Getting braces in two days. Need some info.?

I'm getting braces soon. I already have the spacers and they are painless.

What about braces? Does it hurt getting them on? How much? From a scale of 1-10.

I'm also getting it on a school day. Will it affect my thinking?
Will it still hurt If I eat soup or drink?

some also say it depends on how bad your teeth are. Mine are somewhat decent and I only need them for a year.

Dude, braces only hurt when you bite down! It doesn't hurt getting them on, but it did take about 2 hours! I also got them on a school day~Wednesday. It didn't effect my thinking because as I said, it only hurts when you bite down. If you don't bite down, it won't feel like anything. Also eat soft things, you can start eating stuff like potato chips in like 5 days. The pain isn't like surgery! Just be careful...if you have crowded teeth, you might to get a few teeth extracted...with a needle.

I thought the same way you did. I got my braces about 4 months ago. And yeah, spacers are not bad at all.

The first few days of braces will hurt, in scale of 1-10, I would say 9, because you can't chew much, as you can regularly. Water and soup was the food I ate for the first week.

After you get your braces for a month, you will get an appointment, and they could decide if you need new wires. If they replace your wire, your teeth will sore for a day or two.

You'll be used to it after 2 months.

Okay, so I had braces for 6 years, and I 'm going to give it to you straight. It's gonna hurt some. It is pressure, and it will bother you for a couple of days, then you'll get used to it. This will happen every time they tighten your braces. Soup will be no problem, nor drinks, solid foods will be tough for the first day or so. It shouldn't affect your thinking unless you are very easily distracted by a little discomfort. Pain is relative, so I won't scale it for you.
Look, it'll hurt a little, they'll feel weird for a while, but remember, it's worth it. People tell me all the time what a great smile I have, and its really nice. Plus it was worth the discomfort then, to still have all my teeth now.
Worry not. You'll survive, and down the road you'll be happy you put up with it.

i just got braces 1 month ago its not that bad really. hears the procedure and what to expect.
1.you sit in the waiting room un til the nurse calls you back.
when you go back you will sit in a big room (everyone is in the same room)
2.first they will give you a pill to drty up all the spit in your mouth so the glue will stick on your teeth.
3.then they will brush your teeth with this gritty tootpaste it has no taste.
4.then they will ask you to spit and rinse your mouth out.
5.then the orthodontist will come over and talk for a while abot what he is getting ready to do .
6. this is the longest part . they will put a thingy in your mouth so your moth will stay open wide.then the ortho will take the brackets and glue them on your teeth one by one every two theeth he will stop and hold an ultraviolet light over the tooth so the braket will stay.
7.just saying(by the way the glue smells i wouldnt taste it)
8.when all the brackets are glued on the nurse comes back over ans will take the mouth spacer thing outr and will place the wire in all of your brakets.
8,then she or he will ask you what color o ring's do you want i suggest getting clear if you dont want them to be noticable the she takes a tweezer thing and puts the rings on 1 by 1.
im waning you it will be hard to talk eat and smile the 1st like 2 or 3 days it will hurt like crap if you dont take advil but if you do its not that bad put wax on them because you WILL get sores in your mouth keep them brusehed and good luck hope your sdmile will turn out pretty.!!

Braces hurt at first but after a while you don't even know there there. On a scale from 1 to 10 I would say around 7.

Well, on a scale of pain would be a one and a half.Its not really painful but it will be a little uncomfortable!Its ok!I was just like you.I was scared because I was getting braces recently and I had all these questions.It turned out fine.After the fist two days,it might be a little sore.You can eat soft things like soup,ice cream,Things like that.Cold and soft thing are very comforting!And it will definetly not affect your thinking!Relax!

The day you get your braces on usually is almost pain-free. Its the next day when your teeth really hurt (maybe a 7 for you). Unfortunatly, the next few days after you get your braces on will be painful. However, I find it helpful to chew gum when my teeth hurt. Good luck

nope if you eat hard foods then yuor teeth will hurt. ive had braces since november 2005 and for the first week or maybe for a few days it hurts your teeth but after it doesnt hurt anymore. Its just your teeth have to get used to having braces. dont worry :) you'll do fine :)

1.it doesn't hurt when you get them on, but on the second day it will hurt like heck, so be prepared. it will hurt for about a week. take Advil and stick to soft foods that require little to no chewing. on a scale of 1-10 i will say either 8 or 9.
2. it will not affect your thinking and will not hurt to eat liquidy foods. here is a link to foods that you can eat when you are in pain.

It doesn't hurt at all getting them on unless they poke your gums or something, but they do make your jaw ache for a few days as your teeth get used to them.
They might distract you from thinking but otherwise I can't think of why it would effect your thinking. They might also make your teeth sensitive but drinking and eating things that don't require too much chewing shouldn't but no grantees for a couple of days. Good Luck!
