Try this for asparagus -

Take fresh asparagus and bend one stalk enough so it breaks naturally. Discard the bottom piece and do that to the rest.

Place in boiling water for about 3 minutes. Remove from water. Put a piece of foil on a baking sheet, drizzle some olive oil or vegetable oil on the foil. Lay the asparagus in a row, sprinkle some hard shredded parmesean cheese over the middle. Put in the oven at 425 degrees for about 10 minute or longer if you prefer it softer.

You could also serve a baked potato, rice, or a simple pasta that is boiled and then tossed with butter and lemon pepper.

Other people mentioned rice - I would agree. Cook it as directed on the box, but use half chicken stock (you can use this from a can, no need to make it from scratch) and half water. I would also add some lemon or orange zest to pick up the flavors used in your main chicken dish.

Another good side dish would be green beans almondine. Saute a handful (about 1/4 cup) of almonds in some butter until they turn golden brown. Toss in the green beans and warm through.

Get to know quinoa. It's a nutrition-packed whole grain that's a great substitute for rice, and as easy to cook. Cook according to package directions, or add some boullion to flavor it; then toss with lemon juice and olive oil, and any pan juices from the fish, for preference. Yummy, healthy, low-calorie. Oh yeah, and any steamed or roasted veggies would also be great, you can season them the same way as the fish.

hhmmm, you could make a lot of things...steamed vegetables (make sure you use at least 3/4 chicken broth instead of just water, it makes the veggies taste better) and/or rice. You could also take some veggies and/or small red potatoes, put them in foil and wrap it like a pouch and put them on the BBQ with the chicken. Make sure to season with a complimenting seasoning to the chicken like lemon pepper, lemon pepper and garlic, rosemary citrus blend etc. Good luck!

parmesan flavored angel hair pasta or parmesan spinach noodles go very well. Flavored rices are also a good choice...there is an incredible assortment out now with numerous ones that will go well with lemon chicken. I usually do a chopped salad, potato salad, or pasta salad.
