My eldest daughter (2.5) has come out with chickenpox, i first noticed a couple of spots on her on Thursday and the've slowly come out since. My youngest daughter (14 months) as yet is showing no signs. I just wondered when she was likely to contract it.

yes she is most likely to contact it. there is nothing u can do about it now as she is already exposed to her sister who has it. it will soon come out. Chicken pox is an airborne disease. my two kids had it recently between few days of the eldest one contacting it from school. give piriton to reduce the itching and apply calamine lotion to her body. It is really painful and itchy. Try and make her as comfortable as possible and it usually comes with fever too so have ibuprofen at home too.

Chickenpox is caught roughly 14 days before you notice they've got it. It is then contagious on the child who has caught it for a few days before the spots appear and until the spots crust over. It usually involves a week or so off from nursery.

It's good to get it at this age because the younger they are, the less it affects them. Calamine lotion is still the best thing to put on the spots to cool them. Cool baths are also good and cutting their nails or putting on scratch gloves so they can't scratch is helpful too. You need to try and avoid your daughter coming into contact with pregnant women until they have scabbed over because it can be harmful to the unborn baby.

Chicken Pox is contagious a day or so before the first spots arrive until each and every pox is crusted (scabbed) over....

Incubation is about 2 weeks.. From exposure to the first pox..

Many children are now routinely immunized against chicken pox..

Giving your daughter warm oatmeal baths will help the pox erupt and will also ease the itching,

Yes, chickenpox is contagious. My three went through it at a very young age. It is extremely contagious when they have a fever, even though it takes time to show up on the others.

It takes 14 days or 2 weeks to incubate. They are contagious at that point.Usually about 5 days before they break out.At 14months and at 30 mo, It's important to watch the fever. If it gets above 101 get them to a Dr asap.Remember to only give Tylenol no aspirin as it can lead to rye syndrome.Calamine is good for the itch but I wouldn't give benadryl as it can cause death in someone that young. Good luck may have to mitten their hands to prevent scratching and infection.
