I let my Wisdom tooth go to hell in a handbasket......I have what the dentist calls "Deep scaling" on my left side Wisdom tooth..Basically a hole that runs along the front of the tooth along the gumline...Food gets in it...YUKK

Last week I was woken up with a pain in that tooth/gum area that was worse than a gun shot to the foot! It was like spasms of hot, searing pain that lasted 20-30 seconds each!
It went away after 5 Aleve every 4 hours for 3 cycles in a row...
My Liver STILL functions...LOL...
Last night it happened again...Spasms of hot, searing painful contractions that Ambesol did not even numb! I squirted Ambesol into the "Deep scaling" hole along the gum line btw. That seemed to work after it triggered another series of contractions.....

It feels like the tooth cracked even more along the gumline and it exposed a nerve(?) I know I need the tooth yanked, Could it be a Root Canal issue?

oh my!!! that sounds like what happened to me cuz of my cavitiy. that sharp, searing pain....making my entire head hurt...sleepless nights...numerous aleve pills.... anyways, i think you might need a root canal. hopefully i'm wrong. i've never had one, but i fear i may need one myself. hopefully i'm wrong about that one too. my advice to you would be to go see your dentist and they'll tell you what needs to be done. best of luck to ya!

If the tooth is cracked, a dentist would probably only do a root canal if you're going to have a crown put on the tooth. It's rather doubtful that a wisdom tooth is worth it. Call your dentist tomorrow and get an appointment to come up with a plan of action. It may just be time to have the tooth extracted and be done with this before it seriously impacts your health.

When it comes to wisdom teeth my best advice is to have them taken out. They are the worst teeth to deal with and you don't have to have them to eat. My wisdom teeth were impacted under my other teeth sticking half in and out of the gum and caused me pain for years.

I feel so bad for you having this awful pain. I remember it all too well. I wouldn't recommend a root canal on a wisdom tooth and not sure a dentist would do this for it either. You will be so relieved when it is removed. Wisdom teeth cause TMJ too! It is stiffness in the jaw and clicking of the jawbone.

Uh, yeah, we here on Answers are NOT dentist we only play ones on the computer.
I think it is ridiculous that you have what is potentially a very serious health issue and you come on here. You just want someone to say "hey don't worry, it'll go away on it's on!"
Well, this won't. I had a root canal, it wasn't even a quarter as bad as I thought it would be and guess what? They have gas that puts you basically to sleep so you don't even know they're doing it.
Get to a dentist.
