The crux may be if the medication was prescribed in line with best practise of the day.

Yes, I have been involved but you must be aware that it can take up to 7 years to settle!(as mine did), also can I add to respond to Joannes comment, please be aware all Health Authorities at the beginning of each financial year set aside part of their budget for the purpose of litigation, so no patient will suffer medication/treatment wise.
Trying to get the medical profession to accept responsibility is the hardest job in the world, they especially dr's are very good at covering for each other!Have you got a legal team to advise you, my union provided me with legal support, make sure you have the best support you can get and write everything down, get as much written evidence to back your case as possible and finally, do some research on the internet to support your case!!Good luck Cx

I was perceived to have had a genital problem from birth (I did't really) and my mum had me treated back in the 60s. I underwent three operations and subsequent hospitalisation, with a year of wearing wearing a bag into which I emptied my bladder. After all that, I ended up with a genital problem that I did not previously have, plus I was left prone to bladder infections every so often. The doctors didn't know what they were doing, didn't know how to do it, and when they finished, they didn't know what they had done! And I was left to suffer the consequences. It would have broken my mums heart if I had told her what happened!

my uncle had leukemia and he was given radiation when he had a metal bridge in his mouth, it heated up massively and burnt away some of the roof of his mouth. He sued the hospital and won quite a bit of money, but then donated it striaght back to them, as his treatment cost nearly as million pounds over ten years of having this diease again and again, he eventually succumed to it, and he sued to highlight the bad practise. I think you should think very carefully about what you do with the money, if you have been on medication that long it would have cost the NHS alot of money, it's a bit harsh to take more off them if they were trying to help you, the lack of funds may cause someone elses death.
