We can get forgiveness from God for any and all sins on our death bed. But, we are lucky to have that opportunity. Death could happen at any time.

Sometimes we think, let me try out this sin or that sin. But, it is more intelligent to accept on faith that we should not sin. But, if we sin with an uncaring attitude then we don't make any progress.

We should live our life in preparation for the next life which could happen at any time. We should live our whole live in preparation for a very spiritual retirement as well as being very spiritual at any stage.

So God had the power to forgive us for absolutely anything at any time including on the death bed. But, we will not be true happy until we have achieved pure love for God, the Supreme Being.

Death is inevitable. The thief on the cross knew when his would occur, but we can not predict our own. After his death, the crucified criminal went to live in paradise with Jesus. Some of us will also live eternally in God's presence. But others will experience everlasting torment, forever separated from Him.
If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)

I believe that Christ forgives anyone asking with truth in the heart. Remember that death bed confessions are for those living on. A person may have very well asked for God's forgiveness for the event years ago. In that case they were already forgiven.

Why should a person wait until they are on their death bed before asking for Christ to forgive them?
Who knows if you will be here tomorrow?
It is never too late to accept Christ. It is too late when you have died and are on your way into eternity.

I'm not christian, but I truly think every single person is given a time when their eyes will be opened to the truth, and they will be able to choose to believe or not. A chance to regret the things they have done, and if they feel true regret, that things are made clean right away. Even if people aren't believers but come to a point in their lives where they realize they have done bad things and hurt others and feel true regret. Things will be ok. That's what I think anyway.

In my faith, even if your on your death bed, your sins can be forgiven. It isn't the time that your a Christian that matters, it is the heart you have behind it. If you truely in your heart ask forgivness through Jesus Christ and want to spend eternity with God, then I believe that God will forgive you. In the Bible, Jesus was on the cross next to 2 other men on crosses also. You could say they were all on their death beds. One of the men asked forgivness and expressed his faith is Jesus and Jesus told him that he would go to heaven with him. God wants nothing more than for us to be with him, he would prefer us to do it as early as we can, but won'y turn you away even if it is your last breath.

Here is a thought.

You are dying, and He who is the almighty. Controller of all. Stops time and has a conversation with you.
All the rest of the people see time passing as normal, but not you.

He says something like, "Hi how are ya doing, yes, it's Me". Thought you and I should have a little talk.

Life sorta sucked for you here didn't it.
I tried to talk to you many times but you were too busy. Well Now your not so busy and I see this as an opportunity for you. What do you think????

The Bible says that some sins, like taking the Lord's name in vain, can never ever be forgiven. So, if a pious person who led a completely moral life, then fell off a cliff and screamed "goddamniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit"! on the way down, they would go directly to hell. So a deathbed conversion would not help someone in that case.

Proves that God is worried about all the right things, doesn't it.

"I intend to die as a Catholic, though I could never live as one." Oscar Wilde, a deathbed convert who planned ahead.

Yes Christ hears death bed confessions and forgives the person. This was proven at Calvary when one the thieves being crucified with him accepted him as our lord and savior. He asked to be forgiven and Christ told him he would be with Him in heaven.

God will for forgive while a people still has life in them. The question is can a person really change his heart at that time.. I believe that the thief on the cross had always wanted to please God. I think that shows in the attitude of the second thief... Jim
