Maybe it's an A1 salvage title? Never heard of an Al salvage title..
a salvage title is usually applied for a given when, either the owner of the vehicle is unable to be located, or, the car was wrecked, and written off as totalled, but can be repaired and was.

what Chuck said. also be warned of buying a salvage vehicle. 99% of the time is was wrecked so you have no clue how it was fixed, if fixed properly. another accident could make the car just fold up like a tin can and not offer protection.
this is why the insurance company claimed it as a totaled car. those cars that then get fixed by someone, cannot hold a normal title, but a salvage title. to warn future customers this car is not recommended by insurance companies.
I've thought of buying a salvage title on a 98' Lexus SC400. Find one that had the side ripped off and rebuild it myself to drive myself. This way I would know its fixed right and being side damage, it won't take away from the shell of the car. Just be careful with any salvage title, do your homework or let an expert look it over.
