Don't they realize that can't happen? Its not like imagining a fairy. Its a god we're talking about that rules everything. It completely and utterly goes against anything a nonChristian knows to be true.

Its like a tricky way to try to get the nonChristian to admit that YOUR god is real. Its also a blatantly obvious attempt and you'll only get the exact same answer that you do in any other question.

So why do you Christians do it? To just try to trick everyone into agreeing with you so that you can say "See, I was right. You DO believe in my god. You just don't want to admit it/You're just scared of my god"?

I've noticed several who do that. But I wonder why they can't understand why we won't, when they wouldn't speculate or imagine that any of the Pagan Gods are real and they base it on their faith. I'm not sure I understand how they think their personal faith would make my personal faith any less valid than theirs. I guess they can't step outside of that box long enough to take an honest look.

It can indeed happen. How do new thoughts occur without imagining it as a possibility? How did new technology advance, new things become invented, new discoveries be made without thinking that they could be true. Edison invented the phonograph because he "imagined" it to be true. Just because you don't think about something does not mean it does not exist.

If you "experiment" on the word of God, and try it out, that is how you can know it to be true.

Likewise, if you experiment that atoms and molecules exist, even though you cannot see them with your natural eyes, you can experiment and learn if they exist too.

I think it is okay to ask people to imagine that a god exists. I'm not Christian, but that doesn't mean I have completely ruled out the possiblility of a higher power. I'm probably just not going with their version of it.

But, I do agree that many are doing it as a game.

When I asked you to speculate, I wanted to know that IF there is a God, how do you think He would feel about being portrayed as a jealous monster. Put yourself in the equation as God.

I am NOT a Christian!

I have no problem imaging the existence of a god. I then compare that with reality and reject most conceptions of it/him, many times on logical grounds alone and many times on the empirical evidence.

I can imagine the King of the USA even though he does not exist.

Oops.

Many non Christians believe in God. Just not the vicious, three headed, Christian version.

Its is helps to see the other persons point of view. It's like if somebody asked you if you were gay and you were discriminated against. Theres no difference, its only part understanding what somebody else believes. Yes, it goes against your beliefs, but it helps us understnad other ways of thought.

heres a brilliant idea: if you don't like the question, skip it, go on to the next one and get on with your life. or you can cry a river cause the big bad Christians want you to believe in God.

Maybe it could also be a way for them to try to get one to understand their side so one may become more tolerant? Just a possibility.
