Sorry , Georgina, if you honestly cannot find any art to like. It can open up a whole new world for you but it sounds like you might need a little guidance as to what to look for. Maybe that's why you are asking this question; I hope so because life without art if sadly pathetic in my opinion and only half living. Don't give up on art, G, if you finally break through to learn to appreciate it you will never be sorry.

it's so much grander in person because you can get a close up look at technique like brush stroke and texture, and the size of a peice of art can make a difference to it's effect on people and the colors are more real in person, visiting high museum art if its away from home too can be an adventure. there is also the feeling you get when looking at art in person, yea a picture is pretty, but to actually stand in front of the work you can see the effort the artist put into their creation and you get a greater sense of awe looking at it. I suggests visiting an art museum with some friends, I have for school and its been great, we were given "assignments" which included things like beginning a conversation with a stranger in the gallery and it makes for a great trip.

Creativity, Imagniation, and discovery are the reasons I go. Sometime I'll stand in front a of a piece of art and get chills down my spine.

Seeing a picture never does justice, you have to see the thing in person.
