I don't know if any higher being exists....but I completely understand the point you are making. In addition, I think he would be happy that I'm actually using the powerful organ he supposedly gave me to try and figure out what is going on.
As for the jealous vengeful monster....I don't even think any people want to be portrayed that way. I think it is an insult for them to claim God acted less mature than most children do.

2Thess.3:2 states plainly:"....for faith is not a possession of all people".
The Bible has been preserved down through the ages for our benefit. It is an instruction book that our Creator had compiled for us.However,it takes careful study and mediation to understand what is contained in its pages.Recall the account of the Ethiopian Eunuch found at Acts:30-32.It is not enough just to read the Bible. We need help from someone who has a clear and accurate understanding. That way you learn that Jehovah is not a jealous vengeful monster. But a loving, tender God who wants only the best for his people.
Proof of Jehovah's existence is all around us.Even the intricate way our own bodies are made shows intelligent creation. Our universe and the position of the earth in the milky way is more than just chance. There are countless witnesses to the existence of a intelligent creator

Your premise is all wrong, sis.
God is not intelligent, He is beyond intelligent, beyond knowing everything since He IS everything.
As far as proof, the bible is not there for proof, it is there to gain wisdom and understanding.
It is not a substitute for further readings in the sciences nor is it a substitute for searching in your heart to find out what life really is.
I think people who think the bible is the end all and be all of religions will have a hard awakening when it is all said and done and church has become the tool of the lazy.
Knowledge and wisdom are here for the ones who seek and yearn for it.
Just some people are happy in their ignorance and false convictions.

Who told you He knows there is no proof?
The Bible says men knew the truth but instead of following the truth, they followed their passions. So He(God) gave them to their passions upto the point that men did unatural acts.
We have the freewill to do anything we like and we will reap what we will sow.
But I believe (and maybe others), that before anyone falls into the pit, He will continue showing us the way until one totally rejects Him.
If you try to read the Bible with the Spirit of God you will know He is not a vengeful monster but that He wants us back to Him (if at all you read the Bible)

God is smarter than you,
There is proof, it is around you everyday. I do not believe any of this creation could have happened by accident. I have seen Him interven in my life too many time to not trust Him. Then there is the mystery of having faith. Not really explainable.
The Bible does not portray Him as a vengeful monster. He is a protective Father. I am just human but when people hurt my children, I get angry, and I do things to protect them if I can. Why should God be less than me in this regard.
Also, He is just. There must be punishment for sin. don't you want to see justice regarding the pain others have inflicted on you. Interesting that we want justice regarding others but mercy for our selves.
Because He is just, He sent His Son, Jesus, to take upon himself the full penalty of our sins. This is a gift. It is loving and merciful, however no gift does any good unless it is recieved and opened.
He does understand it is hard to receive this, He will judge according to "the light we receive" We are responsible to be faithful to the truth that He shows us through His creation, His people, His word and His voice in our own hearts. Only He knows what is in our hearts and we should not assume to understand how others will be judged.
I hope this helps.

My god is not sentient. The human brain seems to want an omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent god. "I exist therefore God must have created me (directly or indirectly)". I believe the right statement should be "I exist. I do not know how the universe came to be." When it comes to religion, people should just believe and not mix it up with science. These two magisteria should not overlap.

i would argue, that you aren't intelligent...no insult intended...but...god is a part of your brain. It is the part of your brain that explains hard questions in simple faith based phrases and opinions. We are smarter then most animals...at the same time we are our own disease...is that intelligent? God isn't intelligent, since it is by faith alone we believe. But, of course, you may be a "christian" and strictly define god as a father figure. Then you HAVE to trust god is more intelligent then you.....but i don't buy any of that physical heaven or hell BS.

I have said the same thing about understanding how hard it is for people to believe in God. God definitely knows and understands this. I believe some things in all the holy books. I don't believe alot of things in any of them.

While I don't believe in god, I agree with your analysis. If god does exist and he has the power normally attributed to him I cannot believe that he would be the sort to, say, slaughter all the first born of Egypt or condemn the majority of the world to eternal damnation because they showed up at the wrong church on Sunday.

To have intelligence, first, you must exist. Therefore, if god doesn't exist, he has no intelligence.
And the bible was a book. You don't see me running around worshiping the Ugly Duckling just because there is a book about him, do you?
