My grandmother whos father came to US from Aus. used to call me Whalio. She wasn't sure of its meaning, but she said she thought it meant "little boy". I heard it might be from Ireland, perhaps Gaelic? Anyone know?

I see it's from Australia. I would try posting in the Yahoo Australia section.
