Using a fax machine is just like using the telephone. It costs the same. You pay your monthly fee and incoming calls are free. Outgoing depends on the rate plan you have. Usually, local calls are free and long distance have a charge depending on what long distance plan you have. The amount of the charge depends on the length of the call which depends on how many pages you send along with the complexity of the fax (the more characters, pictures, drawings, the longer it takes to send).
