96 ford explorer and the compass is stuck on SE what do i do??

I could be a jerk and say it means you are going in a southeast direction all the time or some smart remark like that....

But my guess is the compass module (If I remember the 1996, it's the black little box stuck under the mirroe with the 5 wires going to it) is messed up.... you could try hitting the little button underneath the box (it's a small hole and will allow for a pencil point to go and a depress it for about 3 seconds) and see if it fixes it.. but my guess is module has found it's way to the SE Sky permanently and the cost to replace it, may be more than you are willing to spend for a compass....

Get your owners manual and read the section on how to recalibrate the compass. I don't know the exact procedure but most only take a couple seconds. Most likely you will need to hold down the C/T and the Step buttons at the same time, the readout will read "C" for a few minutes(indicating that it is recalibrating) and then read correctly. My $.02 worth.

I wouldnt worry about it.. a compass is almost useless for car navigation.. get a GPS...
