They could become afraid of being dunked in the water...seriously, baptism is an outward symbol of an inward covenant of God. We are baptised by the holy spirit's fire and the water cleanses our souls or washes our sins away. It is a part of accepting Jesus as your Savior. Hopefully, after you have been baptized you would be a loving, forgiving and non-judgmental person. If you are baptized as an infant one would hope you would be raised as a loving, forgiving and non-judgmental person.

Being baptized means that you are giving yourself up to God, so it could affect many things in life. You now look at things from a more Christian point-of-view, so you might choose to be more involved in the church or you might make more decisions based on your faith in God.

i do not know if i can...christianity is a way of life, it has been around since the beginning of time, you either choose to try walk a straight path and believe or not...everyone is human, but i found thru the years that everybody believes in something...even the Lord Jesus was baptized, not until he was in his 30's, but still baptized...he chose where his soul was to go...and hopefully we all deep down will be eased in knowing that maybe our souls will wind up in the proper place along side the Lord.

It doesn't. I was baptized. Yet, by age 11, I realized religion is a scam. It only affects you if you continue to allow yourself to be brainwashed into believing a fairy-tale.

when you get baptized & when you agree to it, it's a commitment you make. You alone, in your heart recognize the need to have a closer relationship with God and thus you take the step. By doing this you show willingness to be a better person & a better christian.

Somebody years (1000's) thought that it cleansed away evil. We are not so simple now, but the process was carried on by most religions in one way and another and probably impresses 'candidate' who is the one they want to join them. Just another part of invention by men.
