Our vet X-rayed his stomach, he then had an ultlasound his liver & spleen are slightly enlarged. His blood work a little off, all could be explained by not eating. He just did a small pooh, kindda greenish and slimy loooking. He was vomiting in the beginning but isn't now because of anti-nausea medicine. $700.00 later, he's still starving to death. Losing faith in my vet. Any ideas? Won't even eat prime rib :(

He has never had any of the recalled dog food. Dry only.

Thank you all, I will try a new vet...I've been wondering about I.V. feedings, and he's so weak. Breaks my heart.

Chest x-rays? No masses on ultrasound? How about a barium x-ray series? When all else has been eliminated, you need to start looking at cancer, maybe lymphoma or a bladder cancer, it's very hard to find tumors sometimes, especially if it's multiple widespread tumors-most don't show on bloodwork, sometimes a chest x-ray can show metastasis (spreading cancer) in the lungs.

I agree with sharon d, get him to another vet as soon as possible. You would think they would want to keep him there if he is failing and put an IV on him so he gets enough fluids and nutrition. There must be other test they can do!

Try to find a Board Certified Veterinarian that has a good reputation. That's what I ended up doing after the first vet (fresh out of medical school) made a wrong diagnosis on my dog. When I took my dog to an experienced older Board Certified Vet, he found my dog had a very rare disease with one simple test. My dog died but at least I knew what it was and knew I did everything I could for him. Good luck with your dog!

I don't have any clue as to why this might be happening; but I wanted to let you know about the recalled WET cat/dog food.
I don't know if this is what hurt your dog; But its the only helpful thing I could say on this subject.
If he does not eat any of these foods then I would suggest going to a different vet.
The website I provided has the complete list of recalled foods
