Because, Mary WASN'T A VIRGIN, there is NO SUCH THING AS 'GOD', and Jesus was AN ILLEGITIMATE CHILD (Child had out of wedlock for those of you who don't know.) OF MARY AND JOSEPH!

Jesus was just some kid born out of wedlock, and some people killed him. Big deal.

Everything that I see and understand about life strongly suggests that it is much better to love one another than it is to hate one another. Jesus was right about that! Wasn't the message at the Sermon of the Mount sharing? So what is wrong with sharing, call it foriegn aid if you like?
Do you notice a similarity between many of the questions about God in Yahoo Answers to the passage in the Bible at Mark 15 #32. "Let this Christ, This King of Israel, come down now from the Cross, that we may see and believe."
We may see and believe? Who needs proof?
Face it, what Jesus taught has been misinterpreted by authorities who are more concerned with social control than the intent of Christ.
The proplem is not Jesus, God or Christianity, the problem is some people are consciously bending the message of Jesus to serve the purposes of harboring whealth and controling other people.
Try reading the words of Jesus, and not listening to some other person doing the thinking and caring for you.
Wasn't Jesus a King who chose to wear rags, ride Donkeys and truly know, the rewards of peace and love?
No?

Since the time of Abraham God's chosen people were taught to worship God in a fashion that would be acceptable to them (the people) at their period in time.

Killing the best of every type of animal, and offering it as a burnt offering was part of that ritual, if one had received a good harvest they would bring the best of their crop and so on. These were offered for the repentance of sins etc.

Now out of Abraham came the Twelve Tribes of Israel, all Gods people, for he had made a promise to Abraham that he would multiply his seed to the ends of the earth, I don't think Abraham understood anything about other courntries except those of his continents of course.

God decided to send his only begotten son to represent a new beginning and a new and final offer for the sins of man, representing the final offer for sins. This is why no one can go to the Father but through Jesus who sits at the right of God who is The Word spoken of in Genesis in the bible. He was always a God and still is, and always will be with The Father and the Holy Spirit and together they are God. Peace

Since a perfect human life was lost through Adam, another perfect life was needed as a ransom sacrifice. A ransom equal in value to what was lost. So, God sent his only-begotten Son to earth to redeem mankind since no imperfect human life could ever buy it back.
The question is, how can one man serve as a ransom for millions of humans? Well...in exactly the same way sin entered into the world through one man, Adam. Therefore, the Bible calls Jesus "the last Adam" at 1 Corinthians 15:45. In a sense, Jesus stepped into Adam's place in order to save us. He paid the price for Adam's sin.
Keep in mind, Jesus is not God, but God's Son, because no one can kill God. We can't receive the forgiveness of our sins if we don't accept Christ's ranson sacrifice.
Hope that helped. :)

God is love, yes every Christian knows that. But the Bible tells us that he is also justice and justice requires that disobedience is punished. God knew what this world would be like if man did not follow his laws and rules (that were all for man's best) and realized that the only merciful option would be to pronounce death sentence to disobedience. Today we also know what disobedience means, just take a look at the world. Still God wanted to give man a chance to live forever. But justice required the punishment and there was only one that could take the punishment without doing away with justice, and that was God's own son.

I think i feel the way you think of this. Me too I don't see the relevance of torturing Jesus for the forgiveness of sins, since a kid I still don't see the importance of it. If you are a God and it matters that you have a son, why don't you just forgive your creation unless there's another God for which sins must be pay by higher price and that is jesus.

romans 5:10 for if when we were enemies,we were reconciled to GOD by the death of his son.much more, being reconciled,we shall be saved by his life.

romans 5:12 wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin,and so death passed upon all men,for that all have sinned.

1st peter 2:24 who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree ,that we being dead to sins live unto rightousness:by whose stripes ye are healed.

No man or woman who has lived upon this earth is perfect. We cannot live with God through the eternities if we are not perfect, as only those who are so can be the type of person who can have the privilege to so live with him on day. Knowing that we are mere mortals and are not perfect, God in his infinite wisdom, provided a way whereby, as imperfect as mortal man is, we can still overcome the demands of justice, and still live with God one day.

The Savior Jesus Christ, came to the earth, to live and to die, taking upon himself the sins of all mankind, to atone for those sins so that we would not have to. This great sacrifice, this great atonement, satisfies the laws of justice and through Christ's mercy, we are made whole, made perfect and therefore able to live with God again.

We need to recognize our sins, shortcomings, and errors, and apply the Savior's atonement to our lives by repenting of those sins and erros, and allowing the Savior's atoenment to take full effect in our lives. That is why we repent, to become more like the Savior and to have his atonement raise us up.

God sent jesus to earth only to convey his message and to enlighten the people , he was tortured because the people could not see the truth in his teachings and message. Our sins are not forgiven we will be held accountable for our deeds .

To shame people.

The analogy of the korbanot most respondents are providing isn't entirely accurate - it holds up to the sacrifice aspect, but not the suffering. The animals used as offerings in ancient times weren't tortured or otherwise made to suffer, they were slaughtered in a fashion prescribed to minimize pain and hasten the animals' deaths.

first you have to understand the concept of immortality, and the ramifications of being alive forever.
second, you have to understand the value we place on our own (very short) lives.
third thing to know is how imperfect we all are. Now this, definitely, is something with which we are all intimitely aware.
fourth, you have to know that we are in desperate desperate need of rescuing. Whether this need flourishes from a long-ago pre-recorded history, or whether it is the result of genetic propensities, we ALL are in need of this in some unutterable way.

Jesus could have come down and done miracles all his life, and lived forever and kept being with us, however, that would have overlooked the flaws we all have. Because of our flaws, he had to die. If you were planning it, you would have come to the same conclusion. Humans are dangerous and also worthy of rescuing. Our value is immeasurable to Him. We don't see it ourselves, for our vision is very limited.
