You have an infection and probably an impacted tooth or teeth. An American child recently died from leaving this condition untreated as the infection went into his brain. GO TO THE DENTIST. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/163856/child_dies_for_lack_of_dental_care.html

It sounds like you may have an abscess and, I'm sorry, but it won't go away. You really must pluck up the courage and see your dentist as soon as possible - you really have no alternative! If it's badly swollen, he will probably prescribe an antibiotic, as he can't do anything until the swelling has gone down. Once, it's gone down though, you will need to have it dealt with, as it will need draining and you probably need a filling at the very least. Get an emergency appointment, and take painkillers in the meantime. Although you may be frightened of the dentist, the pain will become excruciating if you don't go. Good luck and get well soon. Note: Up to date dental treatment is just so much better than it was even a few years ago. I find treatment practically painless now and I'm not particularly brave!

It sounds like you have an inflammation of the gum or gingivitis (this is a gum disease which makes your gums bleed are painful and swollen). In most cases I would recommend you to make a visit to the dentists chair - but as you do not like this I suggest you either use TCP and gargle it around - or go to a local pharmacist and talk to the person at the counter briefly about your condition and they will give you the best treatment for you gums.
Most likely they will give you a special anti-septic mouthwash or solution for you to take regularly...
Or I would suggest DON'T brush your gums to hard, buy a babies toothbrush and some sensitive toothpaste.... Use the medicated mouthwash if you have some and continue your routine for at least a week to 2 weeks.
If this does not work I'm sorry - dentist - get someone you trust to go with you and and hold your hand maybe (I know! street cred), or even the doctors, but as I have not gone to the doctors for gums and teeth I'm not entirely sure that they would prescribe a remedy for a speciality they know hardly anything about....
Look it up x

You could have a mouth abssess or a gumboil. Either way - and you have to trust me on this - your dentist WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO YOUR MOUTH WHILE IT`S SORE - so you don`t need to worry about that. I completely understand as i too am terrified of my dentist. I told him though and he was so understanding and made me feel very secure when i went to see him after that. I`m still scared of him though ! Your dentist will give you antibiotics/mouthwash to sort out this problem. He will NOT start poking around doing work on your mouth while it is sore ! If you still feel you can`t face going, then go to your doctor. Explain to him your fear of the dentist and ask could he give you antibiotics/mouthwash. Your doctor will know what the problem is when he takes a look. Cordosyl mouthwash and cordosyl gel - particularly the gel are excellent for sore gums - try that too. I do sympathise as i too am afraid of the dentist as i said, and i went thru a really painful time with my teeth a couple of years ago. In the end i just had to brave it and go. The only thing i know for sure that can help you here is i know for a fact you will not get dental treatment while you have a sore mouth - only medication - so think about it.....

More then likely have an abscessed tooth, this basically has an infection in the root system, it can be easily treated with antibiotics, root canal or removal of tooth. This is the upside.
The downside is that you can get cellulitis in your jaw, abscess in your brain, endocarditis this is an infection of the tissue lining of your heart chambers and valves. all the above problems have been documented and are actual case files.
Believe it or not there have been fatalities with an abscessed tooth, endocarditis is the main culprit.
An abscessed tooth can cause the spread of the infection to different parts of your body, don't press on the puffed up area as not to rupture the puss bag.
Get your tooth taken care of as soon as possible.

Sounds like you may have an infection. Swish with salt water, that should help a little with the pain, but you should go to the dentist. If you have an infection, or worse an abcessed tooth, you need to get antibiotics, if that is the case, and the infection drains, you can get very sick. Try tylenol or advil for now for the pain, but please go see the dentist! =]

it sounds like you have a dental abcess. you will need to see your dentist for antibiotics. Alternate paraceetamol and ibuprofen every 2 hours if you can take them. if your stuck for a dentist ring NHS direct and they will sort you out. Your GP wont want to see you for a dental pain but if stuck amoxicillin is the best. (advice from a dental nurse. RDN,OHE)
you may need a root canal treatment or extraction at worst. you will be fine dont worry dentist are really nice people. they wont do anything on your first visit just give you antibiotics. trust me.

Hi-
Right now its probably a minor infection. I have had my family do the following to make it go away:
1. Wash it with Arm&Hammer toothpast. (they have baking soda)
2. After washing & rinsing you should put lemon juice and swoosh it around (its really sour but it works)
3. rinse and put a LITTLE baking powder in with a LITTLE water and swoosh
4. do that 4 a couple of days and it should be cleared. Do this 3 times a day. (after meals)
**if you need to take some over the counter medican**
Hope ya feel better

If you're in the UK, make an emergency appointment with your doctor. They might be able to send you to hospital for urgent oral surgery. I had a bad abcess in my gum, my gp sent me to a nearby hospital that did oral surgery. I was put on intraveinous antibiotics overnight and the next day I had surgery under a general anaesthetic. I felt so much better for having it done. I too am terrified of dentists, but this way was much better.

i would say you have an abcess and the only way for it is to go see the dentist.. you'll probably be prescribed an antibiotic for a few days. the only way to stop the infection from coming back is to get the tooth seen to by a dentist though.. i know it'll be hard but its something you'll have to do... i dread the dentist too
