First of all, how old is your girlfriend? It is Unethical and Illegal for a doctor to with hold information from a patient. If she is old enough to understand reason and logic thinking then the Dr. must tell her.

Syncope means fainting, usually from lack of oxygen to the brain. A decrease in blood supply can cause this. Is she old enough to call her doctor's office? She is legally entitled to know what her medical findings are, and to know how she can help herself. If her mother won't tell her, she needs to talk to her doctor and ask him to explain what she overheard.

Quotable quote: "Worry affects the heart, the glands, and the whole nervous system. I have never known a man who died from overwork, but many who have died from doubt." --- Dr. Charles H. Mayo

check this website.. http://firstaid.webmd.com/fainting_treatment_firstaid.htm
I'm going to tell you like I tell most people, if you will go to the search line of your browser, OR, if it's medically related, go to webmd.com, and put in the word that's got you concerned, you can learn a lot of things, a lot faster than waiting for us to help you.
Having said that though, we don't mind helping, cause, that's why we are here.
