I'm looking for one of those stereos that can come out and then up and form a screen kind of like navigation, except without navigation. Does that make sense? Im trying to explain it the best I can :) What are those called and what brand typically makes the best ones? It's going on a '97 BMW 318i, if that helps. Thanks!

www.sounddomain.com has tons of info about car stereos.

Most manufacturer's have high end models designed as you describe but I would recommend against that design. The mechanism is fragile and easy to break. A smaller fixed screen will be more reliable especially if you don't need it for navigation why do you need the big screen?

just get a Alpine unit.
these are normally refered to as single DIN slide out monitors. also have a look at the double din units, if ur car can take it as it is more flashy and will look like ur car manufacturer installed it
