I have a guest room painted in lavender, and all the accents are white. BUT, I love the idea of pairing brown with purple. Light browns/beiges/tans with darker purples and chocolate/deep browns with lighter purples. Light natural woods I think go great with just about any shade of purple.

Depending on how daring you want to be, you can really pair just about any color with purple. I've seen orange and purple together, and it looked great. Hot pink and purple is very bold, and so is purple and lime green. If you love purple, like I do, just pair it with whatever inspires you.

try lowe's.com. Use the virtual painter & try painting a sample room. If your walls are purple, & you want furniture or accessories, paint 1 wall your shade of purple, & paint the others til you find what works best for you. They have hundreds of colors. If you're looking to paint the walls, do it the same way. You can see how it'll all look together.

Green and yellow compliment purple. White works too. If the purple is very light...then dark brown looks good too!

It depends on what sort of purple you are speaking of.

A rich eggplant goes well with royal blue, forest green, burgundy red, and butter yellow.

A pastel lavender goes well with a mint green, light yellow, a cream color, or gray.

I've seen some purples that look good with black, or white. Or you could try greens, or paler purples.

Black and purple looks great, not too much black, with a little crimson to add texture.
