That's a difficult thing to do, peaches, but you will do yourself a great deal of good remembering that that person having all their needs tended to, and being looked after by people trained to do such things. Most people are woefully unequipped to handle the round-the-clock care that elderly/special needs people develop the need for, and find themselves exhausted and/or resentful of the person they care for. Check on them regularly, let them know you care, and take it easy on yourself (you've done this so they CAN be taken care of properly) - good luck! :) ...

You are asking the wrong question. The more appropriate refrazed question should be "If, I put my loved one in an assisted living facility, could Ilive with the guilt?" The decision should be made so that guilt is avoided or at least considered. If youve already gone and done it then you really arent being sincere with yourself or us.You feel youve done the wrong thing and now you want to be consoled by someone so you dont feel like the "bad guy" In other words if you really felt guilty then you would get him/her out first thing in the morning

It's not guilt when they can get the care & the assistance you can't provide for them. You are human & want them to be safe. They are providing safety you can't & not because bad person becuase there are things that are out of our control.
