PAST AND TODAY
nobody knows the future
that depends on what we are gonna do
MANS EFFECTS ON THE ENVIRONMENT
(this is limited to effects of people in the country, industrial effects on the environment and the internal combustion engine as well as the over all effects of cities ,is another story)
DEFORESTATION
expanding populations and expanding farming ,that has to keep pace with the expanding populations are very strong forces that encroach upon the rainforest's
clearing them for farming and settlement areas .
Rainforest's always are in third world countries and always in third world countries corruption and the need for money s highest
the jungle gets smaller by the day
more and more farmers move in .and burn the trees
it is an impossible situation
as long as there is poverty in these regions the destruction will continue
ON THE GROUND
go to the countries on the equator ,check what has happened in history
and listen to what is going on in the many disaster areas on this planet today,(and there are more than ever each year )
: i have seen lands that have been turned from jungle into desserts by people in a matter of a couple of years ,because of the slash and burn method used by settlers and expanding agriculture, and i have seen rivers dry up because of deforrestation in many places in Africa and Mexico ,
there are natural cycles in the planets life
but a lot is influenced by mans existance ,and this is increasing with overpopulation, putting strains on Natural resources and increasing contaminations as well as destructions of essential componants the ensure living conditions for all life forms
in North Africa,India,Mexico ,millions of people are effected by land loss and desertification, and flash floods because of deforestation
in recent times thousands of people have died because of exessive heat, usually old people.in India ,Mexico and France,
deforestation causing desertification, the desert conditions causing very cold nights and scorching hot days
in china, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms that have burried their towns and turned their lands into dessert, the globe where they were got to hot for them .
and instead of producing food they are now needing it from some where else, and they will drastically effect the world food prices when they start buying water in the form of grains ,at any cost destabalising governments, in some countries ,could be the result
,the Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year
and all of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,not getting less ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were no desserts.
collectively this planet is drying up because of bad farming practices like, over grazing and fertilizers,
as far as the food production is concerned, Global warming or some of its effects are serious, rising seas result in landloss
each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss
more landloss because of desertification every year,we have less areble land to produce food ,for an extra 70 million people ,
and there is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,
and there are less and less farmers to do it..
who are overpumping deep carbon aquifiers
who are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,
because of bad farming practises ,such as using fertilizers and heavy machinary or over grazing
RISING SEAS
The northpole is melting ,and we will know it without ice in our life times.
this does not affect the sea level because it is ice that is already in the water.but the melting ice from Green land and the south pole ,are another matter.
Global warming is in theory reversable, but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,
At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.
SOLUTIONS
if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to reverse the destructive processes
reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.
the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.
the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia
Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.
the protection of existing forrests.
stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.
education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.
education on environmental awareness
education on family planning to curb over´populaion
Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.
more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks
,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour
alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine
recicling wastes,limit water use

Global warming is caused by greenhouse gasses being trapped in the atmosphere. The primary on is carbon dioxide, which means that the plantlife can't remove it faster than it's being produced. This is causeing a shift in the jet stream pattern, causing the poles to heat a few degrees, which makes the glaciers melt a bit faster, so the gulf stream is affected by the change in salinity of the oceans. (glaciers are fresh water)
It has been argues that this is a natural cycle, and perhaps it is, but we still need to do what we can to curb our production of these gasses, because natural or not, the climate changes will be difficult to live with.
I live in South Carolina and in the 15 years I've been here, I see that we no longer have successful corn crops, because the rains fall at a different time of the season. The pine trees that used to predominate, are now mixed areas with oaks slowly gaining ground in many areas.
People picture the earth as heating up until it's a desert. That will not happen, but the plants we can grow will certainly be different, and animals that have a limited diet to begin with will suffer.

Global warming is believed by some to be due to greenhouse effect. I would give a simple explanation to what Greenhouse effect means: Earth receives radiation from the sun during day and gets heated up. During night Earth re radiates the absorbed heat in to space and cools down. There is an equilibrium between absorbed and radiated energies(heat). But there is difference in the way the absorption and radiation take place. The absorbed energy is white light, meaning it consists of radiation of all wavelengths while the radiated energy is in long wave length. If the atmosphere contains significant concentration of certain gases called greenhouse gases of which CO2 is important the radiated energy from the earth's surface is is not allowed to escape in to space but is absorbed by these gases and results in warming up of the atmosphere.
As to what happens if the climate becomes warmer: the glaciers in the polar regions are likely to melt in to water and the seas will swell resulting in submersion of coastal areas in all countries having coast line which may also result death of people, livestock, submersion of cities, forests etc. The loss may be more to countries like Netherlands, Bangladesh and the like.
There seem to be more politics (polytricks) in this hypothesis than observation or investigation under simulated conditions in a research lab. So don't get panicked by the way some are picturising the scenario.

The co2 admitions in to the atmosphere put a layer of junk in the air that doesn't allow heat to escape. The sun puts heat into the earth and a certain amount is suppose to escape out but the more junk that is put in the air the less the heat is able to escape making earth hotter. It's kinda like if you have a car parked w/ all the windows rolled up - heat gets in but doesn't get out.
Eventually big glaciers will melt and break off into the ocean elevating the sea level and low level places like in New York and Florida and places in Asia and all over will be under water. We will have so many refuges that Katrina will look like a walk in the park. Billions of people will be displaced trying to survive. This may also cause certain places to go into an ice age. I don't understand that part completely but it has to do w/ tempatures in the ocean.
Global Warming is happening and our children and grandchildren will pay the price for our mistakes. This should not be political but the car and gas companies and the republicans have made it that way. They use to pay doctors to say smoking wasn't bad for you. Now they pay scientists money to say global warming is not happening. Love for money over the well being of mankind. Its really sad.

Duh, the answer is so simple and we look up at it every day and squint. NASA detailed new observations of solar explosions from a powerful space telescope that recently beamed back X-ray images of the sun's outermost layer. Scientists expected to see a calm region but instead saw a bubbling mass of swaying and arching spikes, some more than 5,000 miles long . The tangled magnetic fields dump energy back into the corona, causing huge temperature flares.
The sunspot intensity shocked NASA astronomers, who held the press conference in Washington as Gore testified nearby that the planet has a 'fever' caused by carbon-spewing humans. Of course, the media were too busy genuflecting before The Goracle on the Hill to cover the NASA news.
'If your baby has a fever, you go to the doctor,' Gore intoned. 'If the doctor says you need to intervene, you take action.'
Yes, action such as 'completely eliminating the internal combustion engine' and riding bicycles, taxing factories into bankruptcy and building windmills. In short, creating a 'carbon-free economy' and impoverishing everyone in the process.
But what if the doctor has misdiagnosed the cause of the fever? What if the remedy Gore is prescribing is dead wrong?
He and the rest of the greenhouse gasbags won't even entertain the simplest explanation for global warming. Like a solar eclipse, they've blotted out debate on the sun's factor, despite growing evidence to support it.
As we have pointed out, global temps closely track solar cycles as measured by sunspot intensity. The Danish Meteorological Institute first reported the correlation in a study going back centuries. Historic data reveal that whenever the sun heated up, the earth heated up, and vice versa.
The sun causes global warming? What a concept!
But Gore shamelessly buried the inconvenient truth of the study in the footnotes of his book. If he acknowledged the sun's role in global warming, how could he justify taxing industry and launching his massive wealth-transfer scheme?
Here's another fact he won't talk about on his way to a Nobel Prize: Mars is also warming. NASA says ice caps near that planet's south pole are melting. A growing number of scientists say solar irradiance is heating both Mars and Earth simultaneously.
And here's another inconvenient fact: The sun's radiation has increased by 0.5% per decade since the late 1970s, while carbon output has waxed and waned with global recessions. If warming were caused by carbon output, you'd expect to see temps fall in slumps and rise in booms along with carbon output. Data show no such link.
The Hoover Institution ran the numbers. 'The effects of solar activity and volcanoes were impossible to miss. Temperatures fluctuated exactly as expected, and the pattern was so clear that, statistically, the odds of the correlation existing by chance were less than 1 in 100,' according to a study earlier this decade by Hoover fellow Bruce Berkowitz.
'Yet try as we might,' the study added, 'we simply could not find any relationship between industrial activity, energy consumption, and changes in global temperatures. We tried adjusting for delayed effects. We tried adjusting for cumulative effects. Nothing — the relationship wasn't there.'
The study concluded that even if you completely shut down factories and power plants — as Gore recommends — 'there would not be much effect on temperatures.'
Ouch, so much for that theory. If the planet has a 'fever,' it more than likely got it from the sun, not furnaces and engines.

Global Warming will affect us in the future, because if plants and animals go extinct, then there will not be enough oxygen in the air, and there will be too much Carbon Dioxide released into the air. The reason that animals go extinct, is because of rising sea-level, too hot of temperatures, and the climate in their habitat is changing. This will affect us too, by causing more storms, and extremes in the weather, and of course the oxygen and Co2 problem that I told about. There is also the Greenhouse Effect, which is when the gases are trapped by radiation and warms the atmosphere. Here is the link I used to find that out:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenhouse_effect
Global Warming can't be restored, but we can calm it down, by doing things as simple as picking up litter, or not littering in the first place.

Gradually coastal areas will flood, first in storms then all the time. Changing patterns of precipitation and temperature will severely damage agriculture. Vermont's maple syrup industry is already being affected.
http://www.nasw.org/users/nbazilchuk/Articles/gwmaples.htm
Rich countries can cope, but it will cost hundreds of billions of dollars and lower the standard of living. Poor countries already struggling to feed themselves will have bad problems and many (not all) people will die of starvation.
Some gases in the atmosphere are transparent to visible light, but block heat. They let sunlight in and block the resulting heat. That's the greenhouse effect. It's like how the glass in a greenhouse keeps plants warm in winter. It's largely natural, desirable, and caused by water vapor.
Global warming is excess greenhouse effect caused by man, chiefly through burning fossil fuels and making carbon dioxide.

in case you prefer to get carry of grant funds for climate study, do you think of which you are going to get a cheque in case you're saying," i choose the grant, as i think of that i will instruct that the figures that the present paradigm is predicated upon are incorrect" ? the great environmentalist, David Bellamy, has been silenced, and refused airtime. there continues to be no shown causative link between the quantity of Co2 interior the ambience, and a upward thrust in worldwide temperatures. The WWWF photographs of the polar bears swimming have been taken interior the Arctic summer; whilst the ice cap partly melts, as they could no longer arise to image interior the wintry climate. The ice became too thick! The East-Anglian uni study figures. "Oh! The figures do no longer journey our expectancies. Oh properly. save quiet. because of the fact all of us recognize that we are suitable." whilst the theory, and the religion is extra significant than squarely dealing with the valid doubts of a great style of non grant-supported scientists, technological information has been superceded via non secular zealots. As Oliver Cromwell colourfully mentioned." I pray thee, interior the bowels of Christ, evaluate that thou mayest be incorrect."
