Hhmmm... I had a similar problem. Constant fatigue and lethargy. I had a blood test and the results pointed to iron-deficiency anaemia. There are different causes for everyone but often chronic fatigue is due to glandular fever, diabetes, depression, aswell as low thyroid gland function and anaemia - which can be detected by a simple blood test.

you are 19 years old and that's really young. it's good you have mentioned your past, because, it does have an effect on how you are feeling today. the alcohol would have damaged your liver and that itself will deplete your energy levels because it isn't functioning as well and the fact that you didn't eat much, further damaged your liver, but the wonderful thing about livers is that they do recover fully when treated well and nourished. now, for the million dollar question, are you still doing the alcohol and the drugs? because if you are, then you have answered your own query.... do you snore, because if you do manage to sleep and you snore very heavily in your sleep and wake up several times during the night, chances are you don't get enough deep sleep.... and this will cause drowsiness through the day. what i would suggest is get a good and full blood investigation done to rule out any sinister deficiency status like anemia or even diabetes. or some other underlying infection which sometimes may be present. i'm sorry if i sound terribly ominuous, but you previous history of drugs makes me a little bit more investigative. i am glad that you are still feeling happy and positive.that itself is a good sign. you could try improving your nutrition big time while waiting for you blood investigations to come through. my advice would be, take wholesome food like lots of eggs, at least 2 to 3 eggs daily, full cream milk, if you can get goat's milk, take it twice a day, 300 ml with i teaspoon of honey, cut down your processed foods and sodas and try and avoid foods with preservatives. sugar will only give you a short time energy burst and not any good in the long run. try and have a higher protin diet instead of a high carbohydrate diet, this will build you up better. lay off the coffee. take some supplements, like vitamin b complex 1 tablet 3 times a day, vitamin c up to 2000 mg a day, fish oils up to 1500mg daily and at least 3.5 litres of water to be drunk on a daily. chronic dehydration will also make you very tired and out of sorts.

The best you can do is to be sure you've had a solid panel of tests performed. Most importantly (as has been mentioned) would be to check for anemia, check electrolytes (calcium and potassium levels in particular), and thyroid levels. If these are normal, it will NOT help to take more calcium or to take potassium supplements. If these tests are normal, you might consider seeing a sleep specialist. These are usually pulmonologists who then specialize in sleep disorders, and they can perform a sleep study. Usually, this consists of an overnight study and a daytime (MSLT-Multiple Sleep Latency Test); these would be particularly useful if you are obese or if you get frequent sleep paralysis (where you feel like you've woken up, but you can't move). There is no cure for disorders such as narcolepsy (which does NOT mean you have to have cataplexy, or "drop attacks"), but there are medications to help stave off the daytime sleepiness. Exercise and diet may or may not help, but beware the advice from people who insist excessive drowsiness is "all in the mind". Sure, sometimes it is, but if it is due to an actual medical problem, you might be letting someone with no medical experience or knowledge convince you it's just "mind over matter".

For high cholesterol some yogurt with coconut works. Parsley is good to lower cholesterol too.Eggs are big source of cholesterol ( yolks especially), peanuts have it a lot as well, so try to avoid these. If you can afford it, try to change all kinds of fat that you're using in cooking with olive oil. If you don't like the smell, don't worry, when you heat it up smell disappears. That's the secret why people on Mediterranean live more than 90 yrs. average.
The bad news is that your fatigue is not caused by cholesterol. Cholesterol affects vascular system, and you have bigger chances to get a heart attack is you don't normalize it, but you won't get tired because of that.
What's your blood pressure ? Optimal blood pressure is 120/80.
Cholesterol usually brigs higher blood pressure. If that's your case, you can lower it with garlic. High blood pressure can't make you feel exhausted.
If your blood pressure is low, that that could be the cause. Raw onion will do the trick
Lack of vitamins always brings fatigue with it. Most common is lack of B vitamins. I suggest to you to start to take some multivitamin food supplements. Too much vitamins will not harm you ( body will just discard any extras), and insufficiency can cause a serious problems. Don't forget that fruits and vegetables don't have all the vitamins in. Some of them you can find mostly in meat or eggs.

your mind is tired, not u. U always think that you are tired n tired, so u are. Start doing MEDITATION from tomorrow only, you will see the results yourself. It will make u feel positive and energetic throughout the day. best way to meditate is - in morning sit in a comfortable position closing your eyes, n just concentrate on your breathing, concentrate it going in and out from your body. DO NOT LET ANY THOUGHT COME INTO YOUR MIND. speak in your mind that you are becoming more n more energetic with every breath you take in. surf the net for more info on meditation.
U can spare some time n go for a morning walk.
And several times a day, speak in your mind that u are energetic, you are energetic, and try to feel it.
Remember... our mind is the best cure of all the diseases.

To feel energetic:
1. Have good sleep (at least 7 hrs a day).
2. Breathe good air
3. Have good food
4. Make your moments interesting and comfortable
When do you feel drowsy (evening, morning, at office, home)?
If you can send average day's schedule (like when do you get up, sleep, what work you do, your transport, type of living, family size etc) then it'll help to suggest better.

talk doctor carefully.
carefull excecise like walking a very small amount of wine and some source of omega 3 and 6 might help.
Suggest you walk leisurely for 45 minutes a day.
(Salmon is good source if you not veggie guy. Flax is also source but not as much.)
Wine in very moderate amounts will also help reduce. (Mabye less than a glass.) Vingegar is good too.
Avoid, foods contain lots of transfats, like fried food, baked food ect. Stay away from soft drinks.
Also watch funny shows. Laughing good for your heart too.

are you anemic? for years i had trouble with being overly tired, having a lack of energy etc. turns out i have an iron deficiency (there are multiple kinds of anemia). now all i have to do is take iron supplements (i take hundreds of mg...most iron tablets i've seen in stores are closer to 28mg, so that is important). keep in mind that even though i am low in iron, sometimes when i'm tested it doesn't register as being "low enough" for a full-fledged deficiency. yet taking iron helps me tremendously.
i also know someone seemed to sleep more than usual. turns out it was b/c he had a vitamin b12 deficiency.

The feeling of tiredness and drowsiness could be due to low amount of oxygen level in the hemoglobin... Try taking some oxidizing tablets. It may also be due to low amount of minerals and vitamins in your body.. also take some vitamin tablets. i had the same problem.. And i cured it this way, try it once,,, it may help you too
