I've never had a cavity before. What does it feel like?

Here's my case:

I have been sick all weekend, throwing up and such. Two days ago my tooth started hurting, but only when I bite down or chew something. It's always gone by morning, but It comes back throughout the day and by night, It's just as bad as the night before. It's a pain.

Cavity's generally only hurt when you're eating or drinking, especially if it's something sweet. You mentioned being sick, di you have a cold also? If so, it may be your sinuses causing tooth pain. If you had a cold or sinus infection, tooth pain can be a symptom. Can't go into much detail, but your sinuses and teeth are all connected somehow. I went to the dentist with similar pain and thought it was a cavity, but my dentist swore up and down there was nothing wrong with my teeth. It very well may be a cavity, you need to see a dentist. Especially if it hurts when you're not eating. If it is a cavity and you don't deal with it quickly, you'll end up needing a root canal.

as for the you never having cavities, almost everyone has acidic saliva, the more acidic the more chance if having a cavity there is. very few people have alcalid saliva that makes it nearly impossible to get a cavity, this may be your case it is a genetic thing. either that or you have taken good care of your teeth. it is possible you have cracked your tooth, and/or have an infection. best thing to do is see a dentist, they can find out whats going on.
