a sunburn that has blistered is considered a second degree burn and you should seek medical attention within 24-48 hours. you'll need a special cream to treat it called silvadene that is a zinc-oxide based cream that allows the burn to breathe while healing. it's only available by prescription

i would advise against putting anything on it until seen by a dr. the blisters, if opened could become infected, causing you to become worse.

for now keep the area clean, washing it with cool water and mild soap (dove or ivory). using soaps with perfume or dyes in it could cause infection.

for pain take ibuprofen (if not allergic). it has an anti-inflammatory in it to help reduce swelling as well as pain. take 200-400mg every 6 hours but no more than 1200mg in 24 hours.

AVOID

-using any type of oil or creams or lotions (this includes neosporin, baby oil, vitamin E oil, etc). these trap heat inside the burn and can make it worse

-any and all food products (these can cause infection and will do nothing to help treat the burn)

-hot/warm water-this will make the burn worse

-do NOT pop the blisters. the liquid in them is sterile and if you pop them, you open your body up to infection

you can use a small amount of aloe vera gel if you are in extreme pain (put it in the fridge first-the cold will help soothe the burn)

make sure to be seen by a dr-these burns can be very serious

Aloe vera is the best thing for you to use right now. You can buy it at any drugstore. It helps expedite the healing process and will help soothe the sunburn. Take care of yourself, if your sunburn is so bad that is blistered, you really must monitor the healing. Be well, stay out of the sun:)

if they are not popped LEAVE THEM ALONE if they have popped wash with soap and water and cover loosely with a nonstick sterile bandage. Blisters indicate a 2nd degree burn. You will probably run a low grade fever with chills. Take some Advil or Motrin to control it and the pain . Drink a lot of gatorade and water as the sunburn will dehydrate you. If the blisters start oozing yellow or green gunk call the doctor. It will ooze some clear fluid as it heals.

you have a second degree burn i would not pop the blister i would suver it with a moist dressing and seek imidat medical attention if it is over a large portion of your body being arm leg or any part of your body. burns are the worst type of injury people can get because your skin is your first line of defence to illnesses and so on
