I want to get a bike for someone, but I don't know what kind to get, how to take care of it, and when should I get it. If you can just give me advice on what kinds of bikes are good to get and other stuff that can help me pick a bike and take care of it. The person I am getting it for is about 13, so.

Uncle Neal ...... um.....ere..... Fred is on the right track.

You will need to take the person to a bike shop to get fitted up. Since they are 13 and still growing make sure they are fitted to the largest frame size in their range.

Before you go try to work out what sort of riding they will be doing. On road, off road, tricks, the sorts of distances they would expect to cover.

Get around to as many shops as you can and check out what styles are available. Take particular attention to the bikes that fit a wider variety of sizes.

A reputable dealer will give you a guide for maintenance requirements and a list of local cycling groups that they could hook up with.

A bike shop is the best place to start.

Local bike shop. Ask a sales rep person and they'll be glad to help.
