I'm wondering if any of you guys believe in some sort of equalizing force in the universe. Something like Karma for example. If you do bad, you will be punished, and if you do good you will have good done to you. It obviously wouldn't be god since none of us believe in "him". But, do you believe the universe is fair and that things happen like that? And what would you say causes it?

And those of you who claim you don't believe in it, you have never seen it happen in your life? You've done something you've known to be wrong and things have happened so you got hurt somehow. Or you did something good, and later something good happened to you? Anything of that sort?

2 things:
Azzclown: Dido is my nickname in Bulgaria. I am Bulgarian. I doubt most of you know where that is.
The thing I've noticed about doing good is that once it's done, besides the pleasure you receive from doing it, something totally irrelevant to the situation, yet good happens to you. It is not always. It is not constant. But it tends to happen.

I believe in the laws of nature. It can be beautiful or it can be cruel. A sunset can take our breath away.....but nature also says the very young, elderly or injured will be the first ones run down by predators.

I don't believe in karma really. Though I do think the universe has a sort of 'flow' to it (sorry, this is a bit vague).
You know when you stroke a dog or a cat and the hair goes smoothly one way and it's rough the other? Well, life is like that. You can go 'with' the flow, in which case it's somehow easier. Or 'against' in which case it's not.
Now maybe it's all down to our instincts. Perhaps we have a better idea about what we actually want or should do than we give ourselves more credit for. And so when we do what subconsciously we think we should, it all works out.
Or maybe it's positivity. When we view the world as friendly we're more likely to see things as going well. But if we assume the worst, that's what we get.
Or maybe, as Taoists think, troubles are avoided by harmonising one’s personal will with the natural harmony and justice of the Universe.
Who knows? But 'going with the flow' generally works for me.

No, I don't believe in Karma. But I believe in kindness and a good reputation.
(btw, I know where Bulgaria is. I'm living together with a few at university.)

I believe that there is some underlying force, but I'm not sure how it works. The ONLY reason that I believe there is more than meets the eye is because for a while I tried to disprove telekinesis.
Eventually I practiced it myself, so I could see if my efforts would yield some sort of results. Much to my surprise, it did!
With this knowledge I went out looking for answers. After all of my resaerch and all of the conclusons I have made I believe that thoughts directly influence everything and that nothing in this universe is anything more than a possibility wave collapsed into one possible answer by human and animal thought alike.
An atom is 99.99% vaccuum space. If everything in the universe is made of almost absolutely nothing then why are there physical objects that you either pass through (air) or not pass through (a wall)? I believe that there is someone driving this vehicle of a body (you) that lives beyond the physical body. I wouldn't call it an angel or say you are going to heaven, but if a thought is the only solid thing and we dont know what the hell thoughts are made of... it is quite possible that you can live beyond your physical body.
There is certainly something beyond what science can explain, and I think it is something that will be experienced after death. It might not be something to look forward to or something you can only get to by being a good person, but it's worth looking into it.
Another thing I have recently started practicing is using the power of focus to get what I want out of life. I simply think of what I want and tell myself it's coming to me and I'm going to get it. I might print a picture of a car and leave it in my room to remind myself that it is coming to me, I'm getting it no matter what. And although it takes time, it ALWAYS works. Even if you think it will be impossible to achieve, as soon as you start thinking of something that you want, life will begin putting all sorts of things into motion to bring the end result to you. It's very mysterious in how it works, but it really does! Try it yourself, the key is to truly believe.
This is a lot of research and ideas just kind of sprawled out in an unorganized manner, but hopefully it sparks something.
To actually answer your question now, karma could just be a reflection of yourself, you feeling guilty will bring bad things upon yourself because what you want is to not feel guilty. By bringing bad things upon yourself you subconciously train yourself to be a better person. I believe to that effect, karma exists.
BTW, for those who don't believe in "supernatural" stuff. Neither do I, I believe in unfound science.

Nope. I believe that what you see is what you get. No supreme beings, no karma, just cause and effect. I believe things like deities (gods) and karma are just crutches that weak and frightened people use to make sense of a chaotic world.

I don't. I think its wishful thinking. But I do agree that our craving for Justice for the Wicked and Reward for the Good is one of the primary reasons people turn to religion.
As for examples of karma, you are right I've seen them. I've also seen just as many counter-examples, where the "good" guy lost and the "bad" guy won. That's life.

I turn your question back around on you. Have never seen a good man seemingly spat on by luck? Or an evil man get away scott free time and time again? Sometimes good happens to those who deserve it, and sometimes not.
I don't believe in any supernatural equalizing force, or anything supernatural for that matter.

Not neccessarily. God stuff happens to bad people and bad **** happens to good people and vicea versa. I mean I think if you are robbing and stealing things are going to catch up with you eventually, but no, there is not some force paying kind for kind. It's all a random roll of the dice.

I'm a student of Buddhist philosophy. I'm open to many ideas like the survival of human consciousness and karma etc. but they aren't ideas that I dogmatically cling to just things that I take an interest in.

I don't believe in karma. I do believe if you do good by your fellow man goodness will be returned. And if its not you haven't lost anything by being good. But by being bad you could lose friends and there is nothing to gain but enemies.
