I have a very open floor plan and a blank canvas! I would love to add red paint to the walls. I picked a deep red color called Cherry chocolate, but I am afraid to start! I am not sure if I should do 1 wall for a focal point, or 2 walls? We also have the rounded corners, so where, and how do I stop? The room has a lot of light, but I think painting the whole room red would darken it to much! HELP!

here's your answer. Go to Lowe's.com & use the virtual painter. You can paint sample rooms with hundreds of colors to see what your rooms will look like before you buy your paint. Just paint 1 of the walls with a shade closest to the red you have now, then paint the others til you find what you like. No second guessing, you'll know exactly what to buy & will know how it'll look when you're done.

Paint the room either white, off-white, or a pastel color, and use the red for trim and/or accents. Painting the entire room red will not only darken it terribly, it will make matching most furniture with it impossible, AND it would get depressing to look at after awhile. Using that paint on the ceiling would only make it worse.

I painted my living room red. 2 walls red - one wall was a lighter brown and the other wall was red with a stone wall going 3/4 the way up the wall (yes, that was a ton of work!) It was gorgeous!

If your afraid, paint just one wall. That will add more depth to the room. Then wait a week and see if you want to add another red wall.

It's only paint - you can always cover it up if you don't like it!

What you should do is skip every other wall, and paint every other wall red. That will look cool. You could keep the other walls white or paint them a goldish color(or what any other color you want) Good Luck!

you could paint the bottom half of the room red, and have the top half white. It wuld be a cool effect and it wouldn't darken the room.

ONE IDEA IS TO DO A CHAIR RAIL TRIM THAT GOES ALL THE WAY AROUND THE ROOM. IT CAN BE HIGH AS YOU WANT IT TO BE. YOU COULD PAINT THE BOTTOM HAVE THE RED SO IT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE TO MUCH RED. ANOTHER IDEA IS TO DO HORIZONTAL RED STRIPS OR WAVES AROUND THE ROOM . JUST HAVE FUN IT CAN BE PAINTED OVER IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT

well you should pick a color you would be comfortable with because thats the color your going to live with & your probably not going to change it for a long while right? cherry chocolate seems like a verry nice color to me in my option but idk. & you would want to finish at the bottom so it doesn't show as much
