How does the championship go as far as the scenario here. Since Mark is sharing a ride if it comes down to it (hypothetically) who would the championship go (driver wise) to if the 01 car is the Cup winner. Just wondering as I am an avid NASCAR fan and was asked this by a friend but had never really given it thought since the teams that share rides are never a threat. Serious replies only.

Each driver of the 01 car has there own points there is no way the 01 car can win now ownership points will not be enough for either driver to obtain cup championship. Mark Martin's points right now would be the same next week when he races as there are this week when he does not race.. It is mathematically impossible.

I think Mark is spot on with this move. He's been so close to a cup win. He's recognized the fact that not everyone will hold this cup of finallity. He's a great study for the haves and have nots. He recognises the fact that to win He must pass the torch. He is a rare story of trial and tribulation, wisdom and consideration, optimism and humility. He is a man among men tempered with fatherhood. Though he dances in the limelight,He basks in the warmth of daylight. He is a lesson for the ages.Love greets Him with open arms! I'm very lucky to glimpse his life from my Ozark vantage!

Now this could not happen for the drivers points, but in theory it could work in the owners points. As owners points are earned by the car they will continue in the same rate. But Mark win get no points in the events he misses So he loses 175 to 185 points in each missed race.

No. He's just a runner up four times, two with Earnhardt in 1990 and 1994, Gordon, 1998 and Stewart in 2002.

I dont know. Why would Mark actually want to quit when he is that good. He tried so hard last year and the year before to win. I know his family is important, but isnt it important to keep going when you are that good and already in the run. He spent time with them Nov til now and they can follow him and be with him and he can go home to them in the middle of the week. OH I am so confused. How can Mark do that to his fans?

i might take Mark Martin over any of the greater youthful weapons working immediately. a sprint undesirable success to start the season inspite of the undeniable fact that it particularly is an prolonged season and it replaced into in basic terms a count of time previously he have been given up in place to make the Chase.
