Shame on all of you answering this question!!! This is obviously a question asked by a young person, and if you know any child capable of driving to, and paying for, a vet visit, all by themselves, then I'd like to see it. For Shame.
What you can do for the bird is to call a local shelter and see if they will take a look at your bird. They will usually be glad to take payments for any treatment (like twenty dollars a month), and it doesn't cost so much. Sometimes they'll even take a look for free, because shelters are all about keeping animals safe. Plus, they have veterinarians on staff, and any money they make from treating your bird can go towards the medicine to take care of the animals who don't have owners.
I hope your bird gets better.

When I was a kid in school we had a crow with a broken wing in our classroom. Man it stunk having to sit right by it. Anyway, we let him go after about 2 months and he seemed perfectly fine. Not sure the difference would make in the size of the birds, but keeping him in a cage kept him from trying to fly and he did heal. Good luck. Also, we have four parakeets and for the cage bedding, we use "cage aviary bedding," these pellet things, and it takes away smell and the need to change the cage so often.

You can examine him closer. Is the wing broken? If it is fashion a splint with hard plastic keeping the bones aligned and secure it with tape that is easy to remove like masking tape. Limping usually is a leg and or foot injury. Fashion a birdy tent. Increase the protein for healing by offering chopped cooked egg besides his pellet food. Keep his environment warm and away from drafts and have fresh water available. It is possible he is just contused and will slowly improve over 2-3 days. Bone healing will be 2-3 weeks. a lot faster than us. Good luck and try to keep accidents at a minimum. have a great day everyday.

If you do not go to the vet then your parakeet will be in pain for the rest of it's life.
If you are in the UK then you can go to the PDSA who will treat your parakeet for a donation if money is the issue.

You must see a vet, he/she will know the proper way to bandage the wing in order to allow healing. Don't try to do it yourself. If money is a problem, most vets will gladly accept a down-payment (even if they have to hold something of value to you) and then accept payments. They are very compassionate people.

You must go to the vet or some wild animal (bird) hospital in your area, otherwise your bird will have a serious problem and pain for the rest of his life.

If you cannot take him to the Vet, you do not need him to care for as that is what you are NOT doing. Would you go to the doctor IF YOU dislocated your arm?
