I heard that a dog's mouth is cleaner than a human's. Is that really true?

It depends on the dog and the human. I don't think there is any reason biolgically why a species may have a cleaner mouth than another species. It depends on every individual, his health (especially mouth infections, hygiene, etc).

If by "cleaner than a human's" you mean that dog's mouths have a much lower bacterial count, then yes, a dog's mouth is MUCH cleaner than a person's.
Research has shown that a dog's mouth only contains small amounts of bacteria, and as a result, a dog bite is much less likely to get infected than for example a cat bite or scratch(cats have a very high bacterial count in their mouths, and bites almost always get infected).
If a human bites another human, the bite is more likely to get infected than a similar sized dog bite if left untreated due to a higher bacteria count in the human mouth.
I own 2 cats and have owned many dogs and cats in the past. I am also currently studying for a Nursing(RN) degree.

Dogs have more enzymes in their saliva, so they can break down more bacteria than we can. Also, although humans can easily get illnesses via contact with the saliva of another human, canine illnesses are much harder for humans to acquire, even though other dogs can contract them. I wouldnt say a dog's mouth is cleaner, I would say that its harder to get sick from kissing a dog. :)

I doubt it, dogs lick themselves and they dont brush their teeth twice a day. They eat the same food everyday and some dogs are prone to eating their own poop. I highly doubt that they have cleaner mouths than us!
