It is on the packaging for the xp cdrom.
Note: Always write, using a sharpie, the cd/product key on the cdrom, invariably we all loose/trash the cd packaging. This is good practice on All cd's that have a cd/product key. If you've lost the key, you have a big problem.

It comes with every legitimate copy of Windows XP. You can't fake it or substitute a crack code. If you have a legal copy of XP and it is registered, then Microsoft already has the key code. It is a 25-digit alpha-numeric code.

It should be applied somewhere on your pc.. on the side, front, or back... it is small.. but you should see a Microsoft label somewhere unless it was custom built and the builder didn't place the sticker on it... you really need the product key you were originally licensed for.

There are lots of little programs that will find your product key for you, but I like SIW.
As well as finding your key, it has so many tools in it that it's well worth having permanently on your system:
