That is our special way of talking to God! We don't question why we do it, we just do it!

I've always wondered the same thing... it seems like a total waste of time to me.
People worship an idol that they have never seen, never truly heard an answer from, and as far as we know, does not even exist.
Heck, people pray they win the lottery. If everyone who played prayed, and one person wins, has that person's prayers truly been answered? I don't think so, certainly not at the expense of shafting the millions of other people who prayed for the exact same outcome.
A lot of people say some sort of prayer prior to eating meals for instance, but the reality is, you could pray all you want but if you don't have money to buy food, you're not going to eat. Like a huge portion of the world's population that has an income of less than $1/day... they can pray and pray but they are still starving when all is said and done.
People pray when someone is injured or needs to undergo a risky surgery, and the reality of this situation is, they are either going to recover from the injury or not, and the surgeon is either going to help them or not. There is no religious intervention that plays any role in the outcome of those situations, at least, no one could possibly prove it with physical evidence.
I really have no idea what people are thinking to themselves when they are supposedly praying. It's not like anyone ever responds back. And if you think you're getting a response from some higher power, you may have a multiple personalities disorder coupled with delusion's of grandeur.
If praying actually worked and did anything, very few people would ever die, as the number one thing people pray for is the health of others, mainly family and friends. Last time I checked, no life form is immortal.
However, I understand some people feel comfort in religion and praying. This false sense of security often gives people purpose in their own minds, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Because prayer changes things. And that is the Good News, that Jesus Blood washes away our sins and we can come boldly before the Throne of Grace, 24/7. We are restored in relationship with God. We can pray to God anytime, anywhere.
God gave us a free will, so we make mistakes and so do others. All have sinned & come short of Gods Glory. Sin is doing something against Gods plan.
So, if we didn't pray, the devil would have a hay day of destruction.
God wills for us to have a long healthy life, etc... The enemy of our souls would want us sick, etc... Submit unto God (pray) resist satan and satan flees. The most important is to submit unto God. That means praying, listening to Gods direction, claiming His Promises, etc... (Not bowing toward Mecca 5 times a day) resist satan & satan flees.
God has a final plan, some refuse to receive eternal life, or refuse to obey God. But Gods final plan will come to pass in Gods time. But we may be hurt unnescessarily too much because of not praying. But those who refuse to come to Gods redeeming Grace (if presented correctly), will go to hell fire. Even if it is Gods will that none will perish and all should come to repentence and have eternal life.

God wants us to take our time and share it with Him. He, of course, already has a very good plan for us, but is it wrong if we pray?
A prayer makes us feel better to do our lives.

You will only know what God's plan is for your life if you are in constant communication with God. The only way to be in constant communication with God is to pray, read the Bible and go to church. The Bible says to pray without ceasing. When you communicate with God regulary you will realise how this is possible.
Read 2 Corinthians 4:4. Satan does not want you to pray because he does not want you to have ANY communication with God. You have to pray to the Father THROUGH his only Son Jesus. Thats the only way to pray to God.

Because people need a super power that can deliver them from super evils. And this means that man needs God badly as HE is the source of security and protection. People also need God to blame their failures in life on HIM. Just to say (we have prayed, but this (failure) is God's will. And to ask GOD to do things for them is much easier than they do it themselves. So if God responded positively, they would believe God heard them so He Loves them. If God didn't respond, they would believe that their request was not in accordance to God's will. And so on.....

We pray to God to ask forgiveness of our sins because as a living creature, we are bound to commit sin and nobody of us is perfect but God alone.
We pray to God to ask favor from him, to ask help and ask everything that we need from him, however your prayers will not be heard by him if you pray just to test him .
Pray a true prayer to God and not a repeatedly prayers like the said holy rosary of the catholics (the Hail Marys ..... and the Holy Marys .......) are not really prayers but praises to Mary , the mother of Jesus Christ when He became man to save the sinners.
Pray the prayers which was taught by Jesus Christ in the bible, New Testament and was made as an example when praying to God.

The purpose of pray is this. When you call your friends or your boy friend. Or even a family memeber you call because you have a relationship with them. You can call on them no matter what the issue is in your life and either cry for a joyfull moment in your life. Or cry in despair for the sistuation at hand. The purpose of pray is to build the relastionship with you and our God. When you realize it is as easy as talkn to your friend on the phone or a mother or father who guide you in something you are lost about. The Lord knows all that you do .. All that you have been through and what you are yet to face. He just wants to be there every mintues you go through it. He wants to comfort you through the despair. through the disappointing times. And he wants to pour the peace of god out apon you when you are walkn through those hard times.
He has your life in the palm of his hand. But if you want him to move on your behalf and fight for you . .Then surrender and he will take over and bring you blessing and joy unspeakable. Jesus Loves you

It is prayer that gives people hope, allows them to believe that if they try hard enough, they can make something good happen. And sometimes, when our prayers don't come true, it can be the most painful thing of all.
