I have shoulder lengh blonde hair. Since my hair screams for starightness and extra moisture, I have bought Herbal Essences dangerously straight shampoo and condititor. The problem is, since I have a very early job, I have to get through my showers extra fast. I wash the shampoo out and move on, but I end up still ahving shampoo in my hair and it turns oily. I woke up early and washed it off longer, still oily hair. So, whats the acceptable time of how long to wash off shampoo? I'm very detailed, so please use logacially answers!

What I always do is once I hop into the shower I immediately put the shampoo in. Then I leave it in and move on . Right before I get out I wash it out. This way it gives the shampoo time to work it's magic. Otherwise, if you put shampoo in your hair then rinse it out 4 seconds later it's not going to do anything to your hair. You need to let it sit for a few minutes.

Having shampoo in your hair probably wouldn't make it oily... are you sure the problem isn't that you aren't getting all the oil out? Try to work up a really good lather~ shampoo doesn't really take long to wash out- like 30 seconds.

Or... is it a 2 in 1 thing? Those will pretty much alway make your hair oily if it is long. Conditioning next to your scalp isn't necessary because that hair is still getting nutrients from your hair follicle. It would probably take you less time all together if you used 2 products instead of the 2 in 1- only shampoo your scalp and condition what would be in the tail of a pony tail- if you don't get all of the conditioner out it won't be too big of a deal since it isn't next to your scalp so it won't make it look greasy.
Good luck!

The time you've been taking to wash off the shampoo sounds sufficient. The problem is more likely the kind of shampoo and conditioner you're using - it sounds like you're over-conditioning your hair. Try a different moisturizing shampoo, and only condition the ends. See if that makes a difference.

Well it shouldn't take too long. Maybe about a minute?? I have hair a little past my shoulders and it takes about that time. So yours should be quicker. You might want to wake up earlier. Also you could be using a large amount of shampoo thats why it takes so long? And you should leave your shampoo/conditioner on for a few minutes before rinsing

Well, here's a leetle schedule for you chuck.

1) Massage shampoo into hair.
2) 2 minutes later, start to rinse.
3) Rinse for approximately 195 seconds.
4) Brand spanking new hair!

My sister told me this one. She puts her shampoo on, she keeps it for like two minutes. If you don't use conditioner, you keep it on while you body wash, and when you wash the soap off your body, rinse the shampoo. If you use conditioner, you wash the shampoo off after two minutes, and then, you put your conditioner on. Keep your conditioner while you use body wash and when you wash off the body wash rinse the conditioner. Your hair will be amazing.
