if you apply lemon juice to your hair and sit out in the sun it will lighten it but don't expect the smae results as let's say peroxide

Okay, I just tried lemon a couple days ago, and here are my results. Right now, it is raining where I am, so I put pure lemon into a spray bottle and sprayed all over, and then combed it through some hair around my face. It didn't smell good, I don't know if the people who say pure lemon juice are actually using pure lemon juice... I blow dry my hair on high while it is still slightly damp. My hair is slightly lightened, probably not noticeable to anyone else. It seems as if you need to do this for many days or even weeks to really see some results. Here's some advice about common complaints:
a. Depending on your hair color, the highlights may come out brassy or orange. My hair is light brown, and the highlights come out golden. A great way to stop any potential problems is to dilute the lemon juice with water.
b. Lemon will dry out your hair. It is an acid, so make sure that you don't get in on your scalp or hands unless you want a really bad burn or even blisters.
c. There are great alternatives for lightening your hair. Diluted chamomile tea is the best, and smells waaaay better than hydrogen peroxide.

Yes and no. You can use lemon juice to lighten your hair, but the problem is that it's not predictable. You could end up with orange streaks, or uneven lightening. There's also a product called "Sun In" that smells better, is not as sticky, and you simply spray it on before you go outside. Or, if you don't feel like going outside, you can use a hairdryer on it. Basically, it's just diluted hydrogen peroxide, the same stuff people use on cuts. So, if you're strapped for cash, buy a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and a spray bottle and dilute it yourself. Wet your hair evenly with it before going out in the sun. WARNING: Don't get mad if your hair becomes brassy or orange. The only sure-fire way to avoid that is to go to a professional and have them colour it for you. Also, you run the risk of damaging your hair no matter what you use.

Wash your hair with one of the following rinses. Pour the selected rinse through your hair 15 times, re-rinsing with the same liquid. On the final rinse, wring hair, and leave for 15 minutes before rinsing with clear water.

Mix 1 tablespoon lemon juice in 1 gallon warm water.

Blonde Highlights

Ingredients:

1 cup lemon juice
3 cups chamomile tea (brewed, & cooled)

Mix ingredients, pour over damp hair then let sit for an hour while you sit in the sun, wash out. Follow with a good conditioner. This process must be repeated daily for a few weeks before you notice any changes.

Nope. For someone with hair that is already blonde, it may add some very faint highlights.

No. It does give you high-lights though. I've done it before with my cousin. It makes your hair smell really good, and look shiny.

i've tried highlighting my hair with lemon juice before.
I would not reccomend it.
all it does is take the pigment out of your hair, andd drys it.
use dye.

it does work but you have to do it for like a month or 2

I've had friends who've done that. It lightens up the color, but I don't think it goes completely blonde.

Have you tried sun-in?
