Evaporated milk is heat treated to evaporate 3/4 of the liquid. It is slightly brownish. If the can looked okay, was not bulged or dented and it smells like scalded milk it is fine.

EWW!! Throw it away immediately!
I used carnation milk (also called evaporated milk ) for years and NEVER saw it that color. Its always a beige color sometimes looks completely white.
dump it and get another can. look at the expiration date and make sure the can is not dented.

Condensed milk (Eagle brand, for example) often looks brownish. But condensed milk (Carnation brand, for example) always looks white or slightly creamy, never brownish. People do use these terms interchangeably, but they are distinctly different products.

It doesn't look pretty, but that's the right color. As long as the can wasn't dented and it smells fine and you haven't hit expiration, it's normal.
I use it for my baked mac & cheese, and trust me it doesn't look appetizing when I open the can.
