Might as well make it a used car, the new ones in this price range are pretty basic.

I would look for a 2002/2003 Honda Accord or Toyota Camry. They are reliable, hold their value and are generally considered the cream of the mid size sedan crop. Of the two, I would probably get the Accord. Sportier to drive, and in this model year they had the better motors as well. The Camry is probably a better car for long trips as it is really quiet and rides nicely.

Try a Honda or Toyota, both are reliable, have reasonable gas mileage, and you will find a wide variety in that price range. Check out Certified used cars, both of these makers have programs where quality cars can be found. Good luck, and happy shopping!

Look at a used Buick Le Sabre. They offer class, smooth ride. Low maintenance cost. High resale. High quality. Good MPG. Lots of extras. Look into them. The 3800 engine is good for 200,000 miles.

Get a new Civic LX stick for less than $16,000.
If actual driving not to mention resale value, convenience, and reliability have not made it to your list of priorities, go with ford or chrysler.

Dre-
We need a bit more info than that buddy....

Import? Domestic?
Special needs? MPG, pickup bed, ??
Do you want a vehicle you can put 500K on before a rebuild?
(Diesel)
Hybrid?

Without knowing any of your needs, I'll scream Honda....but I'm out on a limb here.
