superstition, many think that passengers so not want to sit in row 13
For the person that incorrectly admonished the use of aeroplane:
Fixed-wing aircraft are commonly called airplanes in North America (the U.S. and Canada), and aeroplanes in Commonwealth countries (other than Canada) and Ireland. These latter terms are derived from Greek aéros- ("air") and -planos ("wandering"). Both terms are often shortened to just planes.

Most planes now do have a row 13, but if some still don't, its entirely because of superstition. It's the same reason many buildings won't have a 13th floor. Nothing rational or factual behind it.

Several airlines do not have a row 13 for superstitious reasons.
Similarly 17 is an unlucky number in Italian culture, and so there is no row 17 on Alitalia (or at least there didn't used to be).

not all airplanes are missing that row # 13. The main reason for that is the configuration of the aircraft, sometimes air carriers make some changes in the cabin that will affect the row numbers. An example of that is adding a 3rd. lavatory to the coach cabin.

same reason hotels don't have a room 13 or a floor 13 because some people are superstitious and will refuse to go anywhere near a plane that has a row 13 and if your not a superstitious person it probably wont bother you that there is a row 13. so they just dint put one in

No it's just superstition but at the last minute the airline would have those seats for a low price.

The airplane that I fly has a row 13. It is the CRJ and it is the very last row of the plane.

because of the superstition surrounding number 13 it would be an added redundancy as nobody would want to sit on it causing problems for airline staff

The same reason some high rise buildings don't have a thirteenth floor.
Because the majority of them are built by stupid superstitious Americans who can't spell aeroplane!
