On this site I have heard several say we are born atheists. Do babies and little children share a special relationship with God from birth? Is it more correctly stated that we are born not knowing one way or the other, and are therefore born agnostics?

We are born LACKING belief. Agnosticism is more complex than a simple lack. Agnosticism seems to involve a conscious effort to determine a position for oneself... atheism, on the other hand, can be totally implicit. Small children who are incapable of comprehending the concept and people who have never been exposed to the idea of a god are atheists by default. It's call "weak" atheism, to "lack" belief. All infants are "weak", "implicit" atheists.

Yes, because religioius parents often follow infant rituals such as baptism.

From an internal perspective, you can't be born Atheist, because that means you are AWARE of the concept of GOD and CHOOSE not to believe. Hence, if anything, the Agnostics rule here. A child is OPEN MINDED until such a time as they ACCEPT a given way.

To be born Atheist or Christian or Jewish or Buddhist or Shik or Hindu is a fallacy until you can PRECIEVE and become ROTED.

All of these things require roting.

To be born into a belief system is a reality.

Atheism is roting and brainwashing, if it were not they wouldn't be afraid to tell all sides and give the child a Bible as well as a text book.

The idea behind brainwashing is to LIMIT the access to perception and information and to instill a given view.

ANYONE who HIDES pertinant data and information (i.e. censorship) is involved in a type of brainwashing.

Since Agnostics are open to anything, but accept only what they choose to accept, they aren't quite as brainwashed.

When you say all religious people are fools you are saying all black people are N---- and all Jews are K---- and all Muslims are Cambel Jockeys or Rag Heads and all Women as second class citizens. You are indoctrinating by persuasion, rhetoric, labels, etc.

Little girls play with dolls, little boys play with baseballs.

That is how brainwashing is done.

Girls wear pink, boys wear blue.

After a while it becomes a part of your everday life.

Atheists who do not allow their kids to learn about Islam, Hinduism, Buddhishm, Chirstianity, Judaism.

PEople who tell their kids the Only Good Commie is A Dead Commie are braining washing.

The big thing is FEAR

Atheists FEAR their kids might find religion.

Religious people FEAR their kids might loose religion.

Repbulics FEAR their kinds might like Communism

Communists FEAR their people might like capitalism.

It's all about fear and the inability to enlighten.

You know you have fear and are brainwashing and controlling when you are an Atheist and your 8 year old daughter gets invited by an friend to go to church and you say NO.

You know you have fear when you're a Republican and you kid has checked out the Communist Manifesto from the library and is reading it and understanding it.

You know you have fear when you're a Born Again Christian and your 14 year old son gets invited to a friends Bar Mitzvah and you say no you can't go.

The bottom line IS, if you are doing such a DAMN GOOD JOB at raising your kids WHAT IS IT YOU FEAR.

You FEAR they might, God forbid, SIN!

Atheists, do YOU fear you kids might, SIN!

What is your fear.

If you have that much fear, tie a rope to them. A short rope. And keep it there until they're 40 years old.

And to Christians. If Jesus and GOD and the Bible are so great, what is YOUR FEAR

They might get HUMAN

They might FALL FROM GRACE

Must not have taught them very well!

They MUST be PREDESTINED to Heck or HAdes, eh!

GOD is a bit lack in doing a good job of Protecting them, so you do it in God's place, becaause of what, you're BETTER than God!

Being atheist, agnostic or believer is a proportional term which differs form one person to another, and from place to place and finally from time to time. So people are born neutral as their brains are blank. The process of filling the brain (of a child) with ideas is called learning, teaching and experience. Thus it is easy to believe or disbelieve but what is really difficult is to think. Sorting people (children) as being atheists, agnostics or believers is a kind of bias and prejudice which represent the user's point of view. The most important thing is that we should secure freedom of critical and creative thinking for our children for better future. So the question would be: Are humans born freely thinking? And I think they are because if God is unlimited, the essence of what HE creates must be unlimited. Just think how many inventions the human mind (or only Thomas Edison) has made to make our world better.

Agnostic; yes we really only care about survival matters but our thoughts are on a whole nother level then other animals; we are very inquisitive; if life had been the other way and the world was mostly atheist there would be people who would not believe and would question the world

Before being born, we lived as spirit children of a Heavenly Father. Although we come here with this memory blocked (for good reason), we can still feel His influence through what some have called, "the light of Christ". You may also think of this as your conscience. This is what helps you to know good from evil and to believe at some level in God unless it's suppressed through determined practice.

This is how you can recognize truth if your heart and mind are open to it.

You are born not believing in a god because you have no idea what one even is. You are an atheist by definition.

I had this conversation with my almost four year old the other day where I was trying to explain a church to her because she asked what it was for. She looked at me like I had three heads when "God" came up, because I never brought it up before.

When born a human being is neither atheist or agnostics or believer. It is later he learns about all these and according to ones convictions or bringing up he or she accepts one or the other.

Should be Atheists.

Agnostics are be believers in God(s), they just do not know which god to believe .... in the concept of a baby, I sincerely doubt he knows what is that.

If Baby should be born with special relationship with god, then there should not be any baby to die prematurely or upon death or contacted dieases before birth.

in a sense we are born atheist, by that I mean we believe in nothing because we have not had a chance to learn yet. but if you ask me you should not label children until they are old enough to make up there own minds.

Children are born atheists, as the studies of feral children have proven. They do not create any concept of a god naturally...
