We had only 1 child by choice. It was due to age and money. We were both in our mid 30's when we had our child. We love having only 1 child so we can focus all our time on her and give her everything she wants.

I am currently pregant with my first child but because of my age I think that this will be the only child I have. I wish I had started earlier to have children because I think it is nice for a child to have siblings--I have 2 brothers myself. My mother was an only child and she hated not having siblings to play with when she was young, so I worry about that.
However, my brothers and their families live in the same town and they both have young children--all under 2 years old. So, I think my son will be close to his cousins which will be good for him in terms of learning how to get along with others and my nephew will be about 2 years older than my son, so hopefully they will be close. My parents babysit all the grandkids, so he will get the benefit of being around other children right from the get go. So, I don't really worry about that "only child syndrome" thing too much.

I only had one child due to divorce and I wish I had more. I think single children don't learn to share as much and believe everything revolves around them.
I grew up in a household of 4 kids and none of us grew up feeling the world owed us anything. If we wanted something we worked for it.
I don't think you have to have your child in every organized sport or event (like dancing).....you distribute the money as you can.
If I had to do it all over again, I'd have had more.

I have 4 babies and sometimes they fight and drive me crazy but I was an only child and I longed for a brother or sister. I mean yes I had everthing under the moon and my mom and dad did have alot of time for me but I look at my kids and am so thankful that they will always have each other.

I have one grown child, daughter, and it is because of infertility issues. She has been able to get through college with no loans and I am pleased that I have been able to devout so much of my time to her. I wish she had a sibling but I don't have much to do with my sister anyway!
