i have light brown hair and i think it would look good platinum blonde, like gwen stefani's. my friends think that it wont look good though, but i realllyy think it will. i asked my mother, and she said it was okay with her but she always thought of it as a "skanky" colour. should i dye it?

Don't. That would require getting your hair bleached, which is HORRIBLE for it. And "blonds" are way too common, whether dyed or not. If you want to change your hair color, I suggest using a product from L'oreal. It is a foam, and it comes in a lot of different colors. You can buy it at almost any drugstore in the hair dye section. And, it smells really nice. It's not permanent, and it makes your hair look really nice. It stays in for about 4-6 weeks (The box says 6-8, but I guess it depends on the hair type). It only costs $7 where I live ($6.95, I believe is the exact price), but we don't have sales tax in our state. I really like it, and so does my sister.

If you are very fair skinned and light, especially with light colored eyes, platinum blonde will make you look washed out. The bleaching is hard on your hair and eventually it will get dry and brittle (especially if you straighten daily like I did too) which is why all the stars that do it eventually stop. You will need to constantly get your roots done (like every 3-4 weeks) or it will look bad. When you do decide to get rid of it, you will need to get a professional color-correct you to get you back to your natural color because the grow out will look strange otherwise and its hard to take heavily bleached hair back to natural by yourself.
Not telling you not to do it, but be aware of the downsides.

Without seeing your picture, it's hard to make a judgement. I will say this though. Rarely do I find women with platinum blonde hair attractive. Usually it looks so fake & metallic....
I think it's best to go with your natural hair color & prehaps add a highlight or two...

no, i wouldn't do it because it takes a very long time for the bleach to penetrate to that light of a shade. it is too damaging to the hair. it all depends on your skin tone. that light of a shade could make you look washed out and it doesn't look natural at all. I want to say platuim doesn't stay light it changes to a yellow tone after a while so i would say no, a big mistake!!!

I don't know what you look like but your friends do and they might be right. Why don't you stick with the highlights if you like them. Platinum blond is probably alot of maintenance.

Try a really nice light blond first like a golden, beach girl blond then if that is to your liking go for the "Gwen"...

i had platinum hair for awhile, i really liked it. it's super high maintenance though and you should have a professional do it so it doesn't look flat and washed out. i hate platinum hair that doesn't have any shine to it.

I don't think so because if you dye your hair it will never go back natural color, but I guess if you want (just my opinion)
