ulta.com often has really good deals.
my sister got her CHI straightener 20% off and she loves it.
they also have really good, not too expensive name brand straighteners.
you can also check their ad for coupons.

I don't like chi's because they are metal and damage the hair. Ceramic straighteners are great. I use the ION which is about $115 and fairly new. You can get them at Sally's Beauty Supply and they are fabulous. If you are looking for a cheaper straightener though then I guess you could go to a CVS or Eckerd's and get a conair straightener or something but it damages your hair and won't work too well.

depends on how much you want to spend. I have a Chi straightener in my door room which works amazing but its a tad expensive, but you can get a pretty good deal on ebay. If thats not in your price range, get a hot tools ceramic iron from any beauty supply store. They work great and are only about 20 bucks

Don't do it!!!!!! They fry you hair and you hair looks horrible and it has split ends and everything. I did it for a month and it ruined my hair. I use a straightening balm from alterna before I blow dry my hair and it works better than a straightener. Straighteners fry your hair and make it look all frizzy and they give you split end. Straightening balm takes away the frizz, moisturizes your hair, and makes it straight without the damage. Please do not get a straightener because if you do I'm not fulfilling my job of preventing fryed hair. Well it's not really my job but please listen to me!!!! Nothing is worse than using a straightener on your hair!

Don't get anything too cheap, otherwise it will totally mess up your hair. I've made it my mission in life to never go near a hairdryer, curler, or straighter, but my sister has one from Conair, and it has different settings on it. It seems like it doesn't damage the hair too much. We got it from Avon, but you can probably get one at a drugstore, like Walgreens, Rite Aid, etc. They tend to work just as well as the really expensive ones.

i have a chi straightener which is the best one you can buy. it cost me $100, but you can buy them on e-bay at a very low price. you will like the CHI straightener. it really works fast and it leaves your shiny silky. if you consider the CHI, get the 1' CHI because the 2' it is too hard to get to the scalp like the 1' it works the best.

first of all, make sure you get a ceramic one with solid ceramic plates. not hot tools, there's is just coated with ceramic so after awhile the ceramic wears down and it becomes metal which super frys your hair. chi is the best kind, i have a hai which is also really good and a little cheaper but they're still going to be expensive. i would try ebay.

the ogilvie brand straightening cream is a great choice. it is only about $10, is easy to get(any drugstore has it), and works better than any straightener i have ever tried. the results also last for a couple of months.
Good luck!
