You shouldn't have a bridal shower for someone you don't like! If she doesn't have any friends, it'll be boring! Let the folks who want to give her a gift, give it to her at the wedding!

Even though she is a real dudder, this is a lovely gesture on your part. Get a guest list from her mother. There are probably some cousins and friends of the mother who will come. Maybe there are coworkers or neighbors. I really don't think its is necessary to give the guests gifts. To be on the safe side with the SIL, do ask what colors she prefers for the theme.. and what kind of shower does she want? Kitchen, Bath, General?? Good luck. I know you would rather be tarred and feathered than do this.... I applaud you !!

both sides of the family should be invited the brides family and the grooms . .when i had bridal shower for my sil i just bought a few things and had everyone play games and the winner would get a gift there are some good shower games online that are easy and inexpensive. i don't think you are pathetic for doing this if you volunteered or they asked you and you said yes you should follow through on your word (you could have said no or not volunteered to do it). .

As the MIL for who to ask - aunts, cousins, etc. and you should be able to figure out friends and co-workers. You do not have to have favors for the guests at a shower, just maybe a few cute prizes for winners of games.

She may not be your favorite person but good for you for stepping up and doing the right thing. There should be aunts, cousins, wedding attendants that you can invite. I know this is something you don't want to do but try and make it nice for her. You're a real trooper!!!!!!!
