Bulldog need to have their wrinkles cleaned daily and if they aren't they can become yeasty and give off a horrible smell. If that's not where the smell is coming from, Bulldog can also have a tail pocket which will also need to be cleaned daily or it could be the anal glands. Bulldogs are also notorious for gas which can also make them stink.

He may have a skin disorder. Check with you Vet to rule out mange & have him check for skin problems like hot spots, contact dermatitis or a condition that he was predisposed for due to coat color.

I have a Chow X with a very similar problem. He smells real bad all the time and has lost hair in spots. He has a contact dermatitis from galvanize panels and fencing. Poor guy itches all the time. I brush and bathe and the smell remains.

Sorry I can't help you but I just wanted to let you know there is someone who has the same problem or at least similar.

a lot of breeds have a very strong scent naturally. This is usually true of bulldogs and terriers.. whereas other breeds like poodles have none.

However, he could have some type of skin or other condition that can be treated - go see a vet.

Otherwise, there are powders you can get from petshops to put on the dogs coat that will ease the smell.
