If you have two cells (A1, B1) you calculate growth as =(B1-A1)/A1

If you have multiple years, you can use the IRR function

You lock the scrolling by going to the Windows menu and choose freeze panes. You want the active cell to be in the top left corner of the area that you don't want to move (in your case cell B1).

Highlight cell A1 - on the tool bar click on WINDOW - click on FREEZE PANES. This will freeze the A1 through D10 cells and allow you to see them as you scroll horizontally..

Calculate rate of growth - What do you want to quantify? Grown of gross income? Growth of retained earnings? This is kind of a subjective question.

As far as freezing..... Typically people want to frees the top row and the left column..... in that instance.... you'd click on B2 and click Windows/Freeze panes..... you should get what you want.

You'll need to provide more info on "rate of growth"..... go into your functions and there's a block there to type in what you want to do..... "rate of growth" and it should give you some functions for it.
