You don't have to prove a negative. It is the burden of the believer to prove the belief.

You can't prove that something doesn't exist because you would search for evidence for all eternity. All scientists, philosophers and theologians agree in that respect.

However, this means that it's up to you to prove that God does exist... let's see some valid evidence that God exists... come on... put up or shut up.

PS the Bible doesn't prove anything - it's just a book and there is no way of verifying any statement in it regarding the existence of God. The Bible no more proves the existence of God that the Harry Potter books prove the existence of wizards.

My fellows are correct in pointing out that the onus of proof is on you, not us. However, I won't even ask for proof. Just some empirical evidence or even a logical reason that God might exist.

We cannot disprove God, I'll admit it right here and now. We can't disprove the Tooth Fairy or the Flying Spaghetti Monster either. Yet since we have absolutely no reason to even consider the idea that they might actually exist, we don't believe in them.

Ok .... first, try to defile this logic :

It is possible to prove the possible, as possible is possible to prove.

It is impossible to prove the impossible, as impossible is impossible to prove.

Now ......

If god existed, it would be possible to prove, since it is possible to prove thing existed.

It god does not existed, it would be impossible to prove, since there is nothing to prove.

Therefore

The burden is for god believers to prove god existed and not atheists to prove god does not exist.

Hence

This is also what most scientist wanted to prove, god existed. then the answer is almost always the contrary.

However

If you do not accept the logic above, then it would be your burden to prove the wula wula man from planet Xavier doesn't exist, with your set of logical, though out proof.

Logical proof is impossible without first defining the terms of the proof. If you're willing to provide a definition for "God", I'll be happy to prove that it doesn't exist, if such is possible.

The onus of proof is not upon those who claim something does not exist, as a negative cannot be proven, but upon those who claim something DOES exist.

I am not an atheist.. I believe in a particular deity, but I cannot prove to others the deity actually exists; this is why it is called "faith."

Well, a universal omnipresent omniscient omnipotent all-loving creator entity is an obvious logical impossibility. But of course I don't really know what kind of god you are talking about. If your god is a talking pink frog on a purple pina colada planet, I cannot really prove that it doesn't exist. Maybe it does. The universe is pretty big.

I'm not an atheist but you can't disprove the existence of God or any other supreme being such as Shiva, Zeus, Brahma, etc. But you cannot prove the existence of god or anyone else either so there is no point in this question.

It is impossible to do so, but I think it is fairly easy to prove that many parts of the bible and other religious books are untrue so at very least one can prove that if G-d exists his nature is vastly different from what most people think of when they speak of G-d.

I disagree with peopel say it is impossible to prove a negative, after all, michelson and morely proved thtat the so called "ether" does not exist.

Religious people, prove that all the Gods you don't believe in DON'T exist.

I don't understand why this stupid question keeps popping up over and over again on this sight.

If you are as smart as you think you are tell by what premise or precept in your little mind have you discovered a new rule of logic whereby one can prove or disprove a universal negative.

The fact is God gave us a brain and expects us to use it. This is true for the theist as well as the nontheist.

The belief in the existence of God does nothing but land one in the position for deciding what it is you will do with the truth that has been revealed to you.

You presume too much when you infer that all atheists make the absolute claim that God does not exist. Most only claim that they do not believe He exists, this is not the same thing as claiming absolute knowledge of His nonexistence.

I would suggest you educate yourself before you ask questions rooted in your bias of what others are required to do in order to prove their position.

Learn logic. In the area of logic there are questions that are valid and others that are invalid as belonging to the science of logical analysis. Yours is not one of them.

Those that believe in a God do not neccessarily follow the behavioral dictates of the intellectual ascent they profess, so if by proof you mean something that is emprically identifiable and I would say that the atheist can point to the logical inconsistencies in christian behavior as proof that there is no God.

On the other hand if God were to stand before you and reveal Himself in a way that would leave no doubt as to who He was then you would have no choice but to believe then would you?

This is not what God wants for us. He has revealed enough of Himself both in Holy writ and through the created order that anyone can know of His existence and come to trust in Him.

Empirical evidence takes away choice. God is looking for those who would choose to love Him. Not those who have no choice but to believe. He tried that in the garden and it just doesn't work.

Faith is trust in the object of ones evidence both through natural and supernatural revelation that it is worthy of being trusted. Your question does nothing but inspire those of intellectual wherewithal to excersize logical mental callisthenics to run circles around your feeble claim to understand the laws governing logical analysis.

Empirical evidence for the existence of God in this present reality is subjective experience and this can in no way be used to prove or disprove the existence of God, than if I were to demand that another enter into my skin and experience the truth of God within me. This is an absurdity.

If you want to prove the existence of God try being a follower of Christ. Jesus put this one thing out to the unbelieving world as proof of His nonexistence: Love one another. "By this shall they know that You are of Me and than I am of the father, that you love one another even as I have loved you."

So you want to prove the existence of God? Be Christ-like. Be an imitator of Christ. Go out there and demonstrate the love of God shed abroad in the hearts of men. Be a doer of the word and not a hearer only.
