Wouldn't it be different depending on which church?

That would depend on what the God given purpose is supposed to be.
Is it a million dollar sanctuary?
NO
Is it a state of the art sound system with media?
NO
Is it feeding the hungry, housing the homeless?
NO, that's the job of individual Christians.
Is it spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
YES
Is it bring the lost to salvation?
YES
Is it making the Pastor rich?
NO NO NO

But then those are just the thoughts of this Preacher, writer and Evangelist.
