earnhardt jr is 26 in the standings after 4 races all of which he didnt do very much and he still gets paid $740532. . how come he didnt do much better this week going to start 31. not a bad job for running around in circles for a couple hours. even i could run at the back of the bus for that kind of pay

But, you wouldn't be paid as much. Each finishing position recieves a certain amount of money. However, contigancy sponsors also make up part of the purse winnings. If Dale Jr finished 43 today, he would earn a lot more money that if Mike Bliss finished 43. Like 50,000 more.
As for his point position, he had back luck at Daytona and blew an engine at Cali. So, he has been running better than finishing, and it is not his fault. As for the 31st starting spot, he is not a great qualifier. Plus, I don't think DEI's COT program is as strong as some other teams' (RCR, JGR, EMS)
