It keeps people away (who carry germs)...here are some recipes
Garlic and Herb Pasta
(This serves 2 really hungry people but can be spread out to 4 people if you serve it with a salad or something.)
24 cloves of garlic, peeled (This is a really boring job but it's so very worth it.)
2 TBSP olive oil
1 1/2 cup veggie broth or water
A couple of Roma tomatoes and a little onion, maybe some red pepper
~2 T dried basil
Tarragon, oregano, pepper to taste (the more the better, usually 2 tsp tarragon is perfect)
Whatever pasta floats your boat (I like penne or mostaciolli)
Sautee the garlic cloves (still whole) in the olive oil for 3 minutes, stirring frequently and being VERY careful not to burn them. If you do, throw em out and start over b/c burned garlic in this is REALLY gross. Add 1/2 c of the broth and turn the heat to low and let simmer for awhile, about 15 minutes or until the broth has evaporated mostly. [You should start the water for the pasta now.]
By this point, the garlic should be soft enough to crush with the back of a wooden spoon. Crush about 3/4 of them like this. Add the rest of the broth, the sliced up tomatoes, the chopped up onion, and the herbs.
I've actually never measured out the herbs I put in, so you should taste the broth and see how you like it. Wait a couple minutes for the tomatoes to shrivel up, add more pepper, and turn the heat off. Try not to drool into the broth. :)

It is very good for you .... it livens the blood, it chases away colds and the flu, it makes you feel better, and it has a general anti-biotic affect .... to get around its pungent smell .... er, I happen to love its pungent smell, but if you wish, you can take a clove of fresh garlic chopped up fine and mixed with a tablespoon or two of tomato juice ... or even moosambie, with some honey, and even a little chopped (and blanched) ginger, just to mask the taste and get it down easier ... (to blanch ginger: boil some water and drop in little match stick pieces of peeled ginger, leave for a minute only, then pour off the water or save it for tea) ... it takes some of the 'bite' away ...
Peace & Love

Garlic is very good for you.
After eating it parsley reduces the whiff, I understand elephant garlic does not smell but I've never tested that. Garlic capsules as a health supplement will not make you pong but then you will miss out on the great taste.

There are now many studies published around the world that confirm that garlic can reduce cholesterol..
One of garlic’s most potent health benefits includes the ability to enhance the body’s immune cell activity. Garlic is known to stimulate T-lymphocyte and macrophage action, promote interleukin-1 levels, and support natural killer cells. Strong activity of these key cells promotes healthy immune system function, and strengthens the body's defenses. Garlic promotes the well-being of the heart and immune systems with antioxidant properties and helps maintain healthy blood circulation.
Garlic is an invaluable medicine for asthma, hoarseness, coughs, difficulty of breathing, and most other disorders of the lungs, being of particular virtue in chronic bronchitis, on account of its powers of promoting expectoration.
Garlic also helps platelet stickiness or aggregation to help reduce blood coagulation, and promote hearthealth. The antioxidant properties of garlic help scavenge harmful free radicals, which can damage LDL (bad) cholesterol in the blood stream. Garlic also promotes increased bile production to help reduce levels of fat in the liver. Garlic pills also help ward off coughs and colds.
The active component in garlic is the sulfur compound called allicin. Allicin is a potent agent that helps the body to inhibit the ability of germs to grow and reproduce.
Odorless garlic pills work. For those who want the health supporting benefits of garlic and allicin, but don’t enjoy the strong odor garlic pills are modified so the potent smell is eliminated from the extract without losing any of the benefit of fresh garlic.

Yes, garlic is very good for you. Too many health benefits, but take only 1 clove a day! reduces cortisol, reduces cholesterol and blood pressure. Eat it with lean meat like turkey, chicken, seafood, or extra lean beef (90% or higher) to rid of odour, and also work in synergy to BOOST testosterone which is a good thing.

Garlic is supposed to be good for the heart, but in my opinion the amount you have to eat is a joke, I cannot stand the stuff myself, so don't use it and you will not have to get rid of the smell easy eh.

yes, garlic is very good for your health. It helps reduce your cholesterol and blood pressure levels and it also helps you with some other health issues. They've made garlic in the form of capsules with totally smell free which you can find them in most of the drugstores and grocery stores.

It is good for you - it works a little like aspirin in that it thins the blood, making a heart attack less likely.
You can't get round the smell - even the capsules release some odour as they are digested.
The best plan is just to use a little every day to get the benefits without too much smell.

Garlic has absolutely no health benefits other than as a spice that improves the appeal of healthy dishes. If you are using garlic to lower cholesterol or thin your blood, you are wasting your money.
One more bogus health myth bites the dust. Sorry.
