I had a whole bedroom painted on Friday, and when I was examining the paint closely I find there were small "bumps" of paint in quite a few places, they're only visible when your closer to the wall, but it still irritated me..

1) Is that something that you can expect when having a room painted, or is it easy to avoid?
2) I decided to put my nail on one of these bumps, and it came off, but revealing a white spot (the room was painted green), I know nothing about painting but I want to paint that bit green again like the rest of the room, it is quite small, but not sure if it is as simple as me getting a small paint brush in the pot of paint and covering the white spot, or if it is more complicated than that? I don't want to make it look even worse!

Thanks!

Thanks all for your help, I will definitely paint over that white spot with small brush, but regarding the other bumps, the room is brand new - as such it is in an extension which was newly built, and it was the first time the room had ever been decorated...

I could do the fan thing but once they'd pop I'd have lots more white spots, I may ask the painter for his advice, I don't know if he'd charge me to fix it..

You can just touch up that spot with the paint you have left over ....was it just a basic paint job or did they do a technique? Just an FYI...those bumps could have been there previously to your new paint. I see alot of that especially when painting over white walls. lighter colors and flatter finishes make wall blemishes appear less noticable while deeper colors and paints with more sheen (glossier look) to it tend to make those imperfections a little more noticable.

I had a similar issue, if your walls are textured, the paint might not get into all the crevices. A small brush will work for the touch up. I use a small craft paint brush, like the ones that come in water color kits. Or a q tip.

i have been painting my home this past week and have experienced these bumps also!!! i have noticed though that if you put a fan in the room when you are done painting the bumps usually i guess disappear or "pop".. but as your applying the second coat, I have found in MY recent experiences that they go away..

.Good Day

You should run a scraper over the wall before painting. I would try it now but you may have to paint the whole wall again. Then wipe the wall with a damp rag.. Good Luck
